A mate connected his Launch scan tool recently and my vehicle is reporting C1201 Engine/EV Control System Malfunction as current. However, there are no dash lights to accompany it. A quick search indicated that it may be the Stability Control requiring a calibration. Has anyone carried out the Stability Control Zero Point Calibration described here https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/c1201-toyota/

C1201 is an Engine Control System Malfunction (according to my info). Was code C1202 a typo as I can't find anything?
If a malfunction is detected in the engine control system, the ECM sends a malfunction signal to the skid control ECU. The skid control ECU stores this DTC and prohibits the following controls:- VSC
- TRC
- Downhill assist control
- Crawl control
- Multi-terrain select control

Yes, my mistake, C1201 is the correct code. Early indications are there should be some form of warning light such as engine check or TRC or ESC off but I don’t have any warning lights active. I will hit the books and do some more research. I thought I had a memory of mention of the stability control zero point calibration.

A bit of research reveals there can be multiple reasons for the error code, one of them is if the spiral cable has been replaced and the steering cal & zero point cal aren’t done afterwards. I had the dealer replace the spiral cable about 18 months ago so I’m tipping they never did the extra tasks, especially as I have no warning lights.
