  • Central Locking - Blown Fuses

First time post. I have a 2017 (pre-facelift) GX which I got maybe 12 months ago. All running fine generally.

I noticed today (so I don't know how long ago this started but can't think too long ago) that the central locking isn't working. The fuse under the driver side dash (25a) was blown.

The car will flash and beep when i press unlock on the remote but the car is already unlocked
When the doors are open and I click lock it does the long beep but can't here solenoids
When the doors are closed and i click lock nothing happens - no beep, flashing lights, nothing
I replaced the fuse with a 30a and it appeared to lock the drivers door but maybe felt slugish. Tried to unlock, didn't work so used the key in the door, 30a fuse was blown.
I have disconnected the batteries (dual with isolator) for 20mins too

Any suggestions of some simple tests I can do before going off to find an auto electriian.

    Hi Python3884,

Just a suggestion, never up size a fuse when the previous has blown or you risk causing damage to your main assemblies, wiring, or even a connector which could be very costly. Only ever replace with same size and if it re-blows you need to identify the fault.

In your case from the wiring diagrams the DL No.2 25A fuse feeds directly to the Double Door Lock Relay Assembly G212(B) located behind centre dash close to the glovebox which in turn actuates all the door lock motors either to lock or unlock.

So assuming the fuse does not blow straight away, then you have a short in the wiring to one of your door lock motors, or a faulty motor.

You could try disconnecting all the connectors to the five door lock motors and see if the fuse blows (will require removal of all the door trims including rear door to get to the connectors)

If yes - see if you can locate any damage to the wiring harnesses to the doors.

If no - reconnect each door lock motor in turn until you locate the one that blows the fuse - once you have identified which one it will need to be checked/replaced.

Have you had any mods done around the time this fault occurred? If yes would be worth checking that a screw or something that has been fitted hasn't come into contact with the harness to the door motors as your first step..

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers Phil
