  • 4 LO + traction control dash light flashing OBD code recovered - P1497 - Powertrain

    Hi Guys,

2012 Diesel auto 150 Prado (360,000kms) Full story - I completed a camshaft reseal and water pump replacement and pressure washed some of the grime out from under the bonnet. Test drove the car with no problems. Trouble has started since I replaced the original battery terminals. Dash 4 LO and traction control lights are flashing. Check OBD and active code P1497; I tried to clear it with no luck (worth a shot, it being a battery-related issue). 4 LO has not been engaged , nor traction control switched off, Car will not go into overdrive and warning lights stay on. I started checking plugs for water ingress, but nothing was found troubling as yet.

    Any suggestions would be great.

Did you get that issue sorted as code actually related to the Intake Air Temp Sensor 1 (Turbo side of the intercooler) being high (which means it is open circuit).

P1497 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High

Open in the intake air temperature sensor (turbo) circuit for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic).
    • Open in intake air temperature sensor (turbo) circuit
    • Intake air temperature sensor (turbo)
    • ECM
Sensor P/No should be 89424-60010 if its not a wiring/connector issue.

I had the same symptoms occurring on odd occasions with a LC 200 series. Turned out to be a 'battery on it's way out' problem. In my case changing the battery fixed it. As you have changed the battery terminals, maybe look there?
