Funny that, I was there also, looking for a pair of snow pants there were on sale in the catelogue - which never made it on the shelves WTH!
By the way, are you referring to those portable butane gas stoves? Coz they go for around 16bux at Bunnings. The butane cans are even cheaper there as compared to BCF.

      Darecki,
My 120 has a rubber plug under the front passenger's seat . I've run a cable from the aux batt down through the chassis rail and out through an existing hole under the seat then through the rubber plug coming out under the seat .
I don't know if the 150 is similar but it's worth a look as you don't need to drill any holes .
      Cheers

I like this whole idea of running an electric jug, I have been known to take a kettle on camping trips. Even in an unpowered caravan parks or national parks etc you often find 240 at the shower block to boil a jug, much easier than gas anything.

Just thinking aloud here, a 24v-240v inverter will draw half as much , taking less current out of each battery and reduce the size of cable.
But can you make something like that work practically, ie take a cable from each battery and put it in series for the input of the 24v inverter??
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

          Great idea but...
I think you would cause a short circuit if you tried that

Unless you kept the second battery only for use in series.

you are right, I had to do my own drawing to get my head around it.
Basically the alternator supplies both batteries and the two negatives are earthed.
When you put the battery in series to get 24v, the negative on the second battery is from the positive of the first and you have a short to earth from the second negative terminal. To get 24 v disconnect the 2 cables from the alternator to the second battery. That way you can still have a dual battery system and when required turn it into a 24 v supply for a 24v to 240v inverter. Accessories can still run off the second battery, but you need to run them back to the negative not the chassis.
            Does that sound right?
looks all a bit too hard and fraught with danger though.

Good idea and not too difficult to implement. It is enough to use a relay to switch all aux stuff to the main battery when you put aux battery in series for 24V inverter. This way wires have to be 1/4 of size for 12V so it is much better. However, this way it seems to be easier to make inverter waterproof, install it under the bonnet and distribute 230V instead.

Yes maxjj you have it. Your diagram is better than mine.
It would work fine as you say, but I wouldn't be happy relying on myself or others disconnecting the cables each time as required.

                Cheers

All This to boil a 240v kettle ?????

I must say I'm a little perplexed - there have got to be a thousand better option that involve a lot less effort and logistics just to boil some water.... If this was being done in a motor home or camper I'd probably be able to come on board...

I;m sorry but I just had to get that out

its the journey that matters.

For the exercise its worthwhile, whether its practicable is debatable
Buy an aussie dingo bush kettle makes more sense.
