Spot on Smoov, I think I was a little confused and in turn confused Asad who was right all along. He sent me this great (Engrish great) chart from FeDom China to ensure we get the right one. He has also given me an upgrade to the HD tuner. Great guys to deal with so far so I highly recommend them. I would rather pay $850.00 inc the tuner and then muck around with the off road maps at my on leisure as the system is running Windows CE 6.0 so that will be easy enough to find some maps. The only 2 options in Australia we really need to worry about is the C8014TP (VX) and the C8013TP Large (GXL).

thanks for sharing daniel... ive been watching these threads and i like you would rather procure locally so this is perfect.

Are you getting it fitted in Brissy or doing it yourself?

      Cheers

Not sure yet Mike, Asad has a guy who can install here in Brisbane however I also have a mate who does it for a living so I may get him to do it or I may do it myself... It will depend on what the kit looks like when it arrives. I am sure the DVD player side is easy it's just running the antennas for the tv and gps that concerns me ad I hate wires and buying this unit is all aout getting rid of the wires. If you are interested drop Asad an email and he will be only to happy to help. I will post some pics when it arrives.

1 year warranty and local support for $200 bucks, I have had nights out on the town that cost more then that so worth it in my opinion...

        Cheers Daniel

That's the exact same pic that was sent to me by the chinese seller, I think all the sellers will be asking the same 2 questions as it would be easy to order the wrong one. Or as in my case, ordered the right one but got sent the wrong one.

As to antenna mounting, the gps antenna just goes under the panel atop the centre air ducts. It neatly fits under a piece of plastic moulding that will hold it in place (tip, remove the metal screw holder in that spot, as it may impede the gps signal. It just unclips).

The tv tuner should come with a 6" magnetic based antenna (the base is only an inch wide). I mounted mine as far back on the roof near the tailgate opening, seems to work ok. I tried a couple of supposedly high gain antennas bought on ebay, but they were worse than the maggy based one that came with the tuner. Don't expect continuous signal as you are driving along, no antenna or pre-amplifier will improve things for you either, as this type of installation is a far cry from the one you have at home with its high gain directional antenna high up on your rooftop.

I'd be interested to hear at how others have approached the modification of the mounting hole for the hazard light switch/parking sensor indicator, as it's not just a case of clipping it back in place on the left of the screen.
I've done 2 now, the second an improvement on the first.

Well my new GPS turned up today and I have to say I am impressed! 5 Days shipping (2 days of that was waiting for my payment to clear). The Kit came with everything including an extra reverse camera! I am going to start the install tonight and then finish the TV side of it on the weekend. Looking foward to having a play with it. The build quality is excellent!. VX owners make sure you ask for the C8014TP as this suits our model.

            Cheers Daniel

Looking forward to a review. I'm also still unclear on what maps will run on the GPS?

Well, its almost finished... I have the following to do

Reverse camera wires (wife is a bit p&ssed that she has no reverse camera for these week).
                HD TV to install
DVD player to work when driving
front camera to install to bullbar
GPS Voice for some reason is not working but I am sure I now know what the stray plug was...

The GPS is running iGO8 2011 maps and seems to be very detailed including a business database and speed cameras etc. I am sure it is a pirated version so I will look at going the legal route eventually like Rexie.

I will post a full review and fit guide on the weekend when I get to do it all again.
                From this...

                To this...

                Cheers Daniel

                    Hi Everyone,
My inaugural post, and waiting patiently for my 2011 GXL D4D to arrive. I read somewhere on this site (but cant find it again) about a supplier in Melbourne (epping from memory) for the integrated GPS/radio/DVD etc. Does anyone have the contact details?
Also has anyone managed to get ALL of the steering wheel buttons to work with the unit? Would appreciate any feedback/shortcomings on this topic as it is a modification that i plan on doing shortly after taking delivery of my new 150.

                    Thanks in advance
                    Danny

                        Thanks Melbo,

Also found this unit at www.vms4x4.com.au
Looks good but alot of money to pay for the luxury of having the hazard switch on the right side.

                        Cheers

I have a Clarion NX501A Sat Nav system fitted to my GXL. 2 grand for the unit, plus fitting (in southern Sydney), plus a new top console to house the unit. Was told by the installer the Toyota reversing camera is 6 volts only, not 12 volts like the rest of the vehicle wiring. You will have to change the camera wiring to the new unit you are fitting so it runs 12 volts through that unit (if there is a reversing camera in the unit you are fitting).

Installing Replacement head Unit Toyota Prado 150 GXL - C8013TP Large

I have finally sat down and compiled some photos I took during my install of this unit.

I hold no responsibility in any actions or work you perform or have performed on your vehicle. This is a description of the work I performed on my 2009 GXL Prado installing the above-mentioned unit.

                              1. Factory Dash showing the upper and lower units that will be replaced by the C8013TP Large (GXL). Photos below description.

                              2. Pull out Climate control section from dash and disconnect plug in rear.

                              3. Pull out panel with centre diff lock, DAC and 4WD selector and disconnect plugs in rear.

                              4. Remove two (2) bolts from upper section and four (4) bolts from lower section. Pull units out and unplug the connectors attached to the upper unit and the lower unit.
