      • Hi, I put a Kenwood DDX-8036BT head unit into mine, but it seems to stick out a bit. I guess the guys who fit it didn't fix it well or I need to get a new frame/mount as the original one was stolen. The guys who fixed it said it had to stick out a bit so that the display can move for the cd,etc. Where could I get one from online? Also was wondering about the speaker sizes in the doors to replace the oem ones. What speakers have you replaced your doors with? The head unit sticking out a bit is that normal? Thanks

        • Has anyone installed the Polaris Nav unit and what are the pros and cons?

Also does anyone know where I can source the replacement facia side panels that are needed to install a double din stereo into the top slot of a GXL/VX?

          • Hi Krypto,

The guys at Alberts Car Stereo in Morley can source the fascia kit for you - they got mine for me.

I can't help you with the Polaris Nav unit though... I went with the Alpine. It does 4WD tracks (both pre-loaded and you can also record you own) plus it does every thing else - iPod Video, DVD, MP3 etc...

              • The Alpine uses Navteq which includes about 10,000 4WD tracks from HEMA. I like that you don't need to swap between on-road and off-road systems to use the 4WD track system - it just treats the tracks as roads and will get you from your front door to your favourite camping spot with minimal fuss.

You can also record tracks if they dont show up on the nav, and save them for later use, or export them as GPX files.

                  • Richo,

The data for igo comes from Navteq as well and in mine I had the 4wd tracks through Ormeau shown.

If you want to have a look at the Alpine Pete (Kondo) has one in his 100 series.

                      • I've got the IVA-W520EBT with the optional Navigation module (NVE-M300P) that retails for $1699 total.
Yes, the steering wheel controls can be made to work using an adapter that can vary from $129-$300 depending on which one you get.

                            • Extreme Electronic vs Mr-dvd

Hi all, first post so hope i don't upset anyone. Has anyone had the Eclipse AVN827GA installed. I have recieved a quote saying they are Brisbanes' top supplier to Toyota as a factory upgrade, however the price difference between it and the Extreme electronics option is 3 fold. Anyone out there on Pradopoint able to give me the pro's and cons?

                              • Eclipse is the high end of Fujitsu Ten, who produce many of the factory fitted head units for Toyotas. If I could affort it, I would get one of these. The cheaper units are lower quality China made, but in saying that they seem to do the job. No doubt the Eclipse is the better unit. If its worth 3 times the price I cant tell. Hope that helps
