After much deliberation have just about decided on the purchase of the Extreme Electronix GPS unit for the 150 GXL and would appreciate feedback now that some have had the unit installed for some time. Basically I would like to know if people are still happy with the unit and specifically:
1. There has been a bit of talk on some sites about the Toyota reversing camera requiring some alterations (as outlined by Brains in his very comprehensive install.). Is this much of a problem or is it easier to use the alternate camera?
2. I read somewhere that these type of units take some time to boot up, meaning the reversing camera is not available if you want to back out as soon as you start the vehicle. Is there much of a delay with the Extreme unit?
3. There has been quite some discussion re the hazard flasher and parking monitor switches being on the left rather than their original position on the right of the dash. Do I understand that the switches don't fit properly on the left or is it just a matter of aesthetics?
4. Some people have been a little disappointed with the radio reception of the unit. Is this across the board or just with some installs?
I appreciate your thoughts
