Just a handy hint for everyone, If you blank the EGR completely on a 150 Auto you will every
now and then loose top gear and remain in 4th. The only way to correct it is to stop and restart the car.
I have now fitted a restrictor but only with a 6mm hole in it. 3000k's later and no fault.
This was the only other fault that came with blocking the EGR .The other fault was the EGR code

To make a long story short they put it down to a faulty chip. I posted it back to them today and eagerly wait for a new or repaired one to arrive.
JFYI I fitted one last wednesday - 2011 GLX 3.0 - fairly easy to do just the blank for the EGR was a bugger, took out intercooler pipe for access. Have covered almost 400km running around with no issues other than the grin on "she who must be obeyed" when she drove it.
Robert from Chip It was excellent with a few hints and tips.
The increase in torque was most impressive. Bit early to judge fuel consumption.

I think I am about 4-5 months now into the Chip-It. The other day, by accident, I lined up next to my work colleague at a stop light. He spends quite a bit on the latest BMW's--version du jour was 6 series. I jokingly encouraged him then beat him for first 150metres (obviously I will not say I could have maintained that since it is after all a Bimmer versus a Prado?!) Oh, and for all NZ's finest: all this was done whilst observing local traffic laws and ordinances!

    I agree with Rev.

My chip makes a huge difference when towing our challenge camper fully loaded. The estimated weight is 1,400 to 1,500kg in the trailer added to packed items in the car, a steel dual wheel carrier with 2 spares, full set of shelving with steel frame and fridge slide and fridge etc, full set of bash plates, steel arb bar and there is some significant extra weight! Overtaking becomes difficult, but with the chip, she drops back a gear and literally flies past traffic as if it were a v6 unloaded. I am happy to prove this to anyone who may doubt this statement. My trip back from WA to SA was done with the trailer packed up along with the car to haul back the last of my belongings. Overtaking roadtrains, caravans, sedans and anything doing less than gazetted speed limits was not an issue.

I also acknowledge that when I am not towing, the power is fantastic but I do blow some smoke on acceleration. This is really my fault though as I haven't made some modifications that will allow me to set the tune lower. My current tune is a customised tune 8 done by the man himself in WA.

    Hi guys,

For the benefit of those that don't have time to search etc, there was talk about Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and oil into the inlet manifold from the crankcase ventilation system being cooked by the EGR hot gases going. The special on the Oil Catch Cans is a result of some searching.

Here it is for those interested.

    Glad to hear LOL

I will have to weigh it when it's loaded up, but I guess that it would be around 1300 - 1400 kg.

Those figures quoted are just from the readout, I didn't record any of the fuel figures, as I'm not really concerned as I still would have done the GTG if it used more than it did.

It was a holiday and I had budgeted for a lot more than that. But I am happy with the result, considering that was for the whole trip, 4WDriving & all

In fact it was towing the camper on a very short trip (240km return) that convinced me that a chip would be worth it, as you could pass other vehicles, but it sure did use up a lot of road.
