2 questions mate:

- What setting did you settle for with the Throttle Controller?

- What turbo did you go for? The stock replacement or an upgrade?

also, be careful that you dont just go by the on-board fuel computer. It can be out by 1ltr/100.

What is real is what the pump litres / kms tell you.

True true, but just mentioning what the car says, It did go up to around 14.0 with the throttle controller only installed while I was waiting for the chip. Once chip re-installed it got right down. As for the hilux turbo I believe it Is the genuine toyota factory turbo to suit the 1KD-FTV. P/N#17201-30110. I did not know there was an upgrade turbo avalible. Is the upgrade a genuine or aftermarket turbo. I know down here in Vic there is a mob by the name of ATX & they modify the standard turbo & fit Garret internals that produce good power. They roughly want $2800 turbo only. They wanted $800 to fit it which I thought was crazy considering its only a few nuts & hoseclamps to change over. So @ $956 I thing its a good saving compaired to toyota & the others. I just unsure about import taxes thought??

They also advised you need a chip to see the power increase from the upgrade turbo.

I have upgraded to a higher flow turbo. It was a Toyota turbo with bigger housings. But now I am looking at another one. With the DOM3 Chip you can afford more lag for better mid range and top end as the Chip gets you off the mark quicker.

Hi Chip It, I sent the chip back with the supplied loom but haven't heard back yet. The car has now been with Toyota for 5 days and still no word from them. I'm going back to work tomorrow for 2 weeks so I hope it can be resolved by the time I get back. It's good to hear that you believe chip it will do the right thing if they find a fault. I dread to think what Toyota are going to charge me for parts and labor

Chip It will ALWAYS repair a failure at their expense if it is caused by a detective part. No ifs, buts or maybes.

If it was an original toyota component (OEM) that caused the problem then it would be a warranty claim. It it was a aftermarket product that caused the problem then that company would have to cover costs (depending on their warranty..). If it cannot be determined what caused the fault then one would think Toyota would cover it (if under warranty).

Two things would have to be addressed, one - what caused the problem and two - how do we prove it.
Toyota will in most cases blame the other party's product (if still fitted to the vehicle) and the other party will blame Toyota. You would then need to take your vehicle (either on a tow truck) to another repairer for a second or third opinion. Meanwhile your vehicle is off the road for days, weeks, months. Most consumers will just pay it so they can get their vehicle back as they need to use it for work etc...
For any product you purchase check what is covered under warranty and if unsure ask the seller.

Note: ACCC is a third umpire with no power to prosecute (lay charges etc). They just speak to all involved and if there is no resolution then the complaint needs to take the matter to the small claims court etc.

Is the Chip It chip any good. Here is my opinion after just returning form a 7600k trip to Cape York and back. Firstly on custom setting one, it hauls like nothing else. We dragged a 1800kg Kimberley Kamper all the way to the tip including the Overland Telegraph Track and on the return trip the Old Coach Road from Laura to may town. Not once was a winch called for despite some ridiculously steep rock climbs. The Chip did not miss a beat despite being dunked in numerous creeks. Fuel economy for the whole trip was just on 14km/l and trust me I don't FWI when I need to get through a difficult spot. Bottom line I have no affiliation with Chip It at all but I can't back them enough if you want real power and torque out of your Prado.
