Piece of cake... intructions are step by step and the chip is plug and drive. We use factory plugs so no cutting and splicing. This goes for the MAP sensor as well.Originally posted by darecki View PostHi Robert, Can you explain us who didn't see your box as yet how it is being connected? Question about a 90 series chip then
Wow what a great explanation provided by chip it. I wonder though how that suits me with an older 90 series t/diesel. From what I can see on the chip it website, your chips are a bit too advanced for the older style diesels. Given this, Robert, do you have a view on which of the other 4 chips are more appropriate for my car, and importantly, will last the distance?2001 GXL TD, 2"OME lift, 265/75 Cooper STs, Rear locker, GME 3200 UHF, custom rear storage system w drop down table, Rhino Racks, Safari Snorkel, TTimer, custom side steps, Uni Filter....and 3 kids seats!!!

OK... So I have a chip-it installed on my Prado150 GXL TD.
I have a two sided story:
1) The chip has constantly let me down a failed from day one with limp mode problems over and over again since Easter! :-(
2) Justin from Chip-it WA is going out of his way to rectify the problem over and over.
I have been working with the Perth boys at Chip-it to try and resolve some of the reliability issues "some" 150 chip-it owners seem to be experiencing.
With several program and hardware modifications, my chip "now" functions perfectly whilst driving. 1280km to coral bay without a glitch. I am only now having issue if I leave the car idling. This is a drastic improvement. They have also loaned me the equipment to reset the code myself for when this does happen.
Some people say to me why bother and just get a refund (which has been offered to me!) but the improvement are honestly that good that i am will to try and stick it out. Justin and his team who have had my car for a few days with an interstate specialist have improved the reliability 80% and i'm sure they will get there.
It would be too easy to just give up on this product and we can't really expect Chip-it to own every model of car they sell a chip for!
The fuel savings alone (with careful driving) that i am seeing would result in the chip paying for itself in little over a year... Oh and the acceleration!

A year you say? That is quite phenomenal - do you have any records of figures as an example? Fuel figures before the chip and then afterwards?Originally posted by Darren253* View PostThe fuel savings alone (with careful driving) that i am seeing would result in the chip paying for itself in little over a year...NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders

Don't be tricked by the l/100km on the dash I have a tunit fitted and the trip computer reads about 8.5 l/100km, when I refuel and do the calcs it's about 2.0 l/100km higher and it was about the same as before it was fitted. I also experienced the engine light problems and had to take it back for adjustment. It now seems ok. The extra power is out of this world it's like having a second turbo bolted on. I wouldn't tow without it!!2013 Prado Altitude 150, Silver, D4D Auto, 2" Lift Dobinsons/Bilstien, MT ATZ P3 265/70/17, Black AR901 17x8.5 +20

Interesting, I too have done the calculations and I'm getting about 300klm more to a tank.Originally posted by Hoskie View PostDon't be tricked by the l/100km on the dash I have a tunit fitted and the trip computer reads about 8.5 l/100km, when I refuel and do the calcs it's about 2.0 l/100km higher and it was about the same as before it was fitted. Hi Guys,
I figured it's time to feedback some info since I had my Chip-It fitted about a month ago. Firstly, the power gain is awesome! It's noticable from the first drive and really improves the perfomance in mid-high rev range. The engine is slightly noisier but it's not intrusive. Unfortunatley I also suffered from limp mode issues intermittantly, however Justin and Dean at Chip-It have been extremely helpful in trying to solve the problem. We tried the fuel rail mod and lowered the tune to level two but that didn't really help. For the best part of a week now I've been running it with RF filters/suppressors on the wiring harness and so far so good. It's been driven daily for the last five days and no limp mode
The fuel economy has also improved with current usage sitting at approx 9.3l/100km. Prior to the chip it would average 10.8l/100km. I'm stoked with the savings and these figures are backed up by increased range per tank.

Thanks for the feedback VXWesty, been sitting on the fence for a while watching. The fuel economy increase is pretty impressive and hopefully the limp mode issue is fixed.
You mention the engine is noisier, when and why? Did you get the EGT module?Steve

Also installed the Chip-IT yesterday. No running figures but it has unleashed power I did not expect. Tune is set to setting 4 so there are higher settings available. VERY impressed!Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Its hard to quantify the increase in noise but put simply, the engine just sounds a little louder than before, both under the bonnet and from the exhaust.
No, I didnt get an EGT module as I don't plan on running custom tunes above level 4, and also Justin said there was not much need as I plan to get a 3" exhaust soon which will help lower EGT's.
