Anyone heard of any engine damage caused by these chips? I heard a story of a cracked piston!! Not sure what brand of chip was being used.

Guys these figures are for the auto. The manual is slightly higher than these ones.
120 and 150 Prado Dyno graphs. The first graph is for the 120 but click on the next two to se 150 Series. The last dyno graph is being changed as the one there is very small. It should be fixed within 48 hours. Sorry for this. It is the same sheet just changing from thumbnail to proper size. CheersChip Tuning Australia

Chipit, do you have the peformance accross the whole rev range as your graph is stating from 2400rpm but i am interested in the 600 to 2400 rpm rev range for towing.2012 GX Prado 150 D4D Glacier White Auto with colour coded Rear Kaymar Tow bar Step, TJM T13 Bull bar, Safari snorkel, 100A Lifeline Battery, TJM battery tray, Redarc DC-DC 40A charger, 8" in dash GPS, Speedy Avalanche Wheels, Coopers 265/65 r17 AT3, AMTS Bash plates, TJM Side Steps, Ultimate Suspension 2" lift, Premier Winch.

people can experience engine troubles without having been a chip being fitted. For example injector tips coming off at 40,000 kms. No 1 and No 3 piston problematic on some D4Ds. Owners can do oil changes at 5000 religiously but if the engine has issues then it will let go ... with or without a chip. People would also remember the horror stories of the Nissan 3.0 Di engine. They were very problematic and Nissan were replacing these under warranty even if customers had chips installed. Why? Because they (and everybody) knew they had their issues. So if the same problem occurs on an engine that is somewhat known to be problematic then the manufacturer will fix it. But we do suggest to remove the chip (or any after market engine mod) before going to dealer to save the argument. Up to you of course but dealers will stand toe to toe with you to get you to believe that your part failed the engine. It is in their best interest to get you to believe you caused the fault. Not all dealers mind you are draconian. Some are really good and just look at the issue at hand. They possibly will remove the chip to see if the problem still occurs but then move on to find another possible cause.Chip Tuning Australia

Hi all,
Back on pp after moving from QLD back to WA, great to see a manufacturer getting on the forum and putting there butt on the line for public comment, great customer service as well, very rare these days.
My own experience with chips hasn't been that great, fitted a dtronic to my 3.0l patrol a few years back and it ran worse than ever, replaced it and still crap, all credit to ARB, they refunded me no issues.
Thought I had scored a free steinbauer chip from my brothers prado this week then found out his 120 has the old engine not the d4d, not happy, will have to spring for a chip myself now.Kev,

Hi All,
I drove a friends new diesel Jeep grand Cherokee. 177kw and 500 and something newtons of torque really pushes car really well. So this made me consider putting a chip into my 150. The Chip-It brand seems to be the one that gets the best support here. Does it really transform the car? I have read some good and some bad reviews in regards to fitting a chip. My main concern is the story of the auto gearbox searching for the correct gear between 2000-2500 because of the extra power. Does this still happen with the current chips and how was this resolved?. Is everyone here who has fitted a chip on there car completely happy with the result? I love the car just think it could really do with a little more power.

The transmission troubles you speak of have nothing to do with the chip. It's a Toyota issue and they can re-flash your tranny to eliminate this problem.
Go for it mate and get yourself a Chip-It chip. Out of all the mods I have done to my 150 the chip would have to be the most rewarding and satisfying accessory out of the lot.

You better believe it A chip will make a huge difference in the performance of the vehicle. I've got a Chip-It in mine and it's working sweet now. Plenty of power down low like it's ready to jump out the gates.[SIZE=1]2011 Crystal Pearl VX D4D Auto, MT ATZ 4 Rib, Full River 105AH / Redarc SBi12 DBS (TJM Tray), CKMA12 Air Comp, Alpine INA-W910R - PDX-5 - Type-R Speakers, Engel MT60FP, Rhino Alloy Platform, Foxwing Awning, Rear 12V Cig and Engel Socket, ARB Deluxe Combi Bar, Safari Snorkel, LF 240 XGT's + HID Upgrade, HB3 (9005) HID Upgrade, Bilstein / Lovells 2" Lift Suspension, Chip-It, Alpine PKG-RSE2 Roof DVD Monitors, Maxtrax, GME TX3540 + AE409L, Avenger TDS 9.5, ARB UVP, ARB Protection Steps.

I'm not using the EGT setup because I'm not punching the engine to its maximum. I've got the chip running a mid level tune with stock exhaust. The Chip-It guys say I only need an EGT if running high level tunes.
