Catch can gone. There was still a fine film of oil up the inter-cooler pipe and through to the throttle body.

Lucky you have the flow reduction plate in.
If you don't reduce your soot its just like never brushing your teeth & eating sugar forever, how long............

Well guys I read most of these posts especially those towards the end. My interest in fitting a oil catch can to my 2014 GXL 150 D4D came after seeing a 4WD program on TV where it had a segment about the imperative to install such a unit. I wondered at the time whether it was just more marketing hype aimed at the 4X4 community to flog more "stuff". From reading the last few posts of this thread I now stating to think "oil catch cans" may be just another fad and something we can live without.
I have a fist full of dollars set aside for an oil catch can and now wondering if it would be better to spend the money on something else? BTW I intend to keep my vehicle until it falls apart so I am interested in sensible accessories that will help keep my Prado on the road for the long haul.

I installed a provent 200..... easy enough to install etc... but dam it sounds like i have an air compressor running under the bonnet at around 1200 to 1300 rpm. I spoke to western filters and tried using a different stiffer spring in under the pressue relief valve but it has not made a lick of difference.
anyone got any ideas?
i spoke to western filters and they said they are working on a solution but i have not heard anything back.
ive done a google search and it seems to be a common problem.

I personally don't have a catch can on my car, but I do the servicing on a relatives rig who does have a catch can installed. Figured I'd include it in my checks when I do the oil and filter changes just to keep an eye on things.
Can anyone give me a guide as to what I need to check, how to tell if it's full and how to maintain it please. From memory I think it's an SCA brand.

Please correct me as I have no diagram to view and its a little tight to see what going on down in that area of the motor.
Check this video. It is the correct way to fit the hoses.

Just installed mine yesterday, I have not started it up yet so hope all is well today.
With the Western filter kit was missing a pipe joiner back into the Prado 150 D4D elbow. I found I had a length of stainless steel tubing the correct size so just cut off a short length and installed.
I rounded of the SS bracket corners for safety.
I've spent the full day so far cleaning the Air intake system of all the oil deposits and got as far at the throttle and inlet to the EGR and I could not believe the mess around the EGR valve with only 39k.
I do not understand why the oil catch cans are not fitted as standard due to the gradual deterioration in engine performance blocking the air intake system!
The working of the Oil catch can and inlet and outlet pipes location, helpful for the theory.
