  • Engine now feels loosened up @ around 22,000 km

    Hi Guys,

I hear alot of talk about these engines "loosened up" after a period of time / kms. I've just done around 22,000 km and now it seems the car is more responsive / smoother revving. Just interested to hear if others have experienced this ?

BTW the car has no aftermarket chip or exhaust system just a snorkel.

    cheers
    Rob

Hi Rob. Some diesels can take a while to loosen up. Most of our cars/trucks don't do much heavy work and diesels love a bit of a load. Once the vehicle has done around 5000km it doesn't hurt to put a couple of tonne on the back and put a tank of gas through over a hilly route - make it work a bit and helps bed everything in nicely. After I have put a couple of tanks through my 1KZ-TE with the 26 ft van on the back she always runs real good for a couple of weeks afterward. Cheers, Derb.
