Gents....
Just wondering what the Factory Specs (or Limits) are that Toyota check that teh feedback values are in??
I've heard +/- 3 but then I've also been told from Toyota that they say as long as the readings within +/-5, that the injectors are still within spec and therefor OK.....
comments?

RobOriginally posted by 120D4D View PostI'd like to know too. My (120) is at toyota tonight awaiting the cold start. I was told +/-5 but expecting +/-3 and no more.
Fingers crossed!
My local diesel fitters said they start to see rough running around +/-2.5 and they need replacing at 3.
Baileys recommended me replacing as I have such a big variation in cyl. between 1&3 compared to 2&4. None are outside +/-3
Unless they drastically changed the design I would presume there is a misunderstanding somewhere[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

hey guys, totally missed this;
Our recommendations are:
1) if values are worse than +/-2.5 per injector than change.
2) If injection volume at idle is 9.0+mm3 than change. (taken when hot + no accessories on)
If within both, leave them, they are perfectly fine.
Toyota's position is +/-3.0 (they';re well and truely cold knocking by this stage, hence we like it a little earlier) and 12.0mm3 injection volume. We recommend 9.0mm3 as you've already lost 50% of the low pressure volume, more than this and other issues start appearing (like low rail pressure codes) because the pump now starts to struggle to keep up...
Hope this helps

I rang Toyota HO, hopefully to get a standard on what the Injector Feedback Value Limit should be....but I was informed that they no longer have a dedicated dept for that and I was to ring my local dealer to obtain what the limits are. My local Dealer noted on my last service that as long as the Injector Feedback Values are within +/- 5 (not 3 like has been mention on here). Now, u would think that ALL Toyota Dealerships throughout Australia would be looking at the SAME Database from Toyota Japan and all comeback with the same Figures...... but apparently NOT. What the ???
Also, What is more important... "Injector Feedback" or "Injection Volume" or "Inj FB Vol for Idle" or "Inj Vol Feedback Learning" or is it a combination of ALL?
When I go to Toyota next, I want to know what I should be asking for ???
I got this image from a previous post listed on here.....

I suggest only using new DENSO Injectors.
No rebuilds, reman.
Choose carefully who you get to do them.Last edited by Anth120playdo; 16-12-2016, 08:01 PM.

Well, looks like I'm about to be a Baileys Customer...
I asked for cold start at the 120k service (and so they didnt do the valve clearance?)
I dont have any cold start rattle, nor smoke (ever tried cold start when it was parked nose-down) but I suspect a dodgy engine mount as i have a real shake in the engine when its cold and in reverse (feels like the engine is going to shake loose of the mounts)
The results:
COLD HOT
1 -1.6 -1.6
2 0.0 0.1
3 -1.1 -1.0
4 2.3 2.3
According to Totota ".. number 4 reading is slightly higher which suggest engine is trying to balance something out??
suspect valve clearances requrie adjusting??
checked engine mounts, all in good condition. .."
Is this advice reasonable Baileys? If they adjust the valve clearances (for hundreds of dollars mind you) will that bring no.4 injector closer to 'spec'? And should this not have been done with my overnight service anyway?
I cant see how adjusting the valve clearance will fix the injector issue AND stop the cold engine shake!Last edited by 120D4D; 19-06-2014, 05:59 PM.Cheers

Well the first thing I would think Michael is that at the 120k service they should have checked the valve clearance, its part of the service so that should be spot on, unless of course they didn't do it!

Hmmm....
It always seems that the majority of the time that No.#4 reading is always Higher than the rest.... why is that?? Is it because it's at the rear of the engine which is usually the hottest ??
As 120D4D has stated.... he has no cold start rattle; no smoke (ie no signs of any of the usual indications) yet his #4 value is up around the 2.3 value. I've seen injector Feedback values on even 150's with values on #4 of -2.5. These 150's engines also show none of the usual signs...
So, if there is none of the usual signs and the engine sounds normal & smooth, is there anything to really worry about??
One other thing..... If u do decide to replace the 150's injectors, u are only going to get the same spec injector again as Baileys has yet to complete their design changes (if that is the proper word for it) to the 150's injectors (this is what I was told over a phone conversation with Baileys themselves).[I]cheers.....
