People ,I know this issue has been done to death and i have read a number of threads but none seem to have the question I have . When I have a cold start usually every morning I have a rattle it seems to be behind the dash but I believe it is in the engine compartment .I have checked anything that could possibly be loose but to know avail . When I reverse it rattles first thing and when I put it in drive it stops .also when the engine is warm or hot there is no rattle at all . It has only just started doing this. I'm now due for my 80K service where the injectors are supposed to come out and the tolerances are checked .When I opened the bonnet to see or hear where it was coming from it seemed to me to be coming from the engine itself either cylinder 1 or 2 in the front anyone have any ideas ?? Hi people, I found the rattle and it is the AIR-BOX .How dumb can I be? Yes, a couple of the mountings were worn already at 80K .Soon as I touched it after I took out the filter I knew , so all good, Cheers Foxy

Foxy48, I found the exact same problem. I actually had to shorten the metal sleeves that the bolts go through by a mm or 2. If they are too long they will prevent the mounting bolt from compressing the rubber mounts.
