Does all 1KD have EGR? (With pictures)

So tonight i went out to check the engine oil and while i was at it, i decided to look if my engine had an EGR cooler and then i noticed that my engine came with a blanking plate where i think the exhaust gaes are supposed to come from!
Or maybe this is not the place where the exhaust gases come from?

My engine has no EGR valve since there is a blanking plate where the gases are supposed to come from.
With this in mind, my guess would be that i do not need a catch can?

Catch can will stop oil going through the intercooler and clagging the manifold intakes.

I am very interested to how this was removed and how it was modified to stop engine codes.

I did not do any mods. Most latin american countries have absolutely no emission laws so it seems that the cars sent here come without an EGR system. In short, i have NO EGR system. Its a win-win situation, Toyota saves money, dealer saves headaches and customers dont get clogged up intakes. Without the EGR system and no dirty exhaust gases, is it still possible that the intake will get clogged? To be honest, im still not 100% sure that i dont have an EGR system, thats why i created this thread so you guys can help me out.

Take some pics of the turbo, exhaust pipes and intake track. If you have any form of EGR there will be pipes and control valves.

Yes it can get clogged, as the oil hits the back of the valve it will burn away leaving the black residue. Especially if you do a lot of short runs that dont heat it up enough to burn it away.

Now i can confirm that there are 1KD engines with NO EGR system.
There are engines that come with the EGR valve and EGR Cooler, some only come with the EGR valve but with no cooler and then there are engines that have no EGR System at all.

Don't do anything! You don't need a catch can, a tiny bit of upper cylinder & valve lubrication & 100% positive crankcase ventilation.
