Just a note with using Techstream - you can set a custom parameter list (with only what you need) so the refresh time is much much less. There's a drop down menu where you can choose a custom list. There are many preset pages - Primary, Diesel, AT, etc etc

With all those selected engine parameters my refresh time is normally over 4000ms and that Youtube video in the post above - the value is nearly 6 seconds. You can see the value down the bottom left of the main parameter page. When only looking at 6-10 parameters the refresh plummets down to 100ms for me.

Geez, what can I do with that extra 3900ms?

      (That's actually handy to know).

Yeah the large delay is not too bad when checking the injectors values but reducing the time lag is especially important when checking digital type input/outputs - like a switch position. The lag drives me nuts

You CANNOT DIAGNOSE ON FEEDBACK VALUES ALONE

Firstly, it seems the majority of both d.i.y & techs are focused on feedback values.
Although this is one of the most Important parameters to check, you have to look at the whole picture.

Last week or so I had one, feed back values were sweet, so the injectors are ok right? Wrong!
3 other parameters were out because if the injectors.
The other things you have to watch are the total volume, feedback for idle, timing/duration.
Also maf, fuel pressure, map & more, while knowing the coolant temp & what it all means.

Today I'm working on on with great readings, couldn't fault in diagnostic, but it's rattling its head off.
            Cold

            Warm

            Not bad.

It seems since the recall or whatever you wish to call, customer service exercise, the regular problems of copper seats & blow by has dramatically reduced over the last 12 months. But the butchery as increased by just as much. Jack in the box, that's when Tojo bend the fuel pipes, just about every one I see with problems, if its been to Tojo it's a jack in the box.
Then there's the leopard spots, this is when they don't clean the ports, just throw the injectors back in on the black carbon.
I think I might start a new thread on this.
Sometimes they just change one or 2 injectors.
When in there, they don't even check valve clearance or remove other injectors to change seats.
            It's really pathetic.

            Bodgy up with ultra blue?

Also seen some cracked rocker covers!

Anyway TOYOTA you can pay me to train your crew, or the customer has to pay again for me to fix your mess......
Wouldn't it be better to get it right the first time?

Now I know there are some good techs & dealerships, but this is widespread through many dealerships Australia wide.
            Train them & supervise them.

            Rant over......
            Till next time anyway.

              Hey ####,

Do the new injectors need the correction values code in or is it a simple swap over new injectors?
Also where is the best place in Australia to get some new injectors from?

              thanks Jason

                Hey!

Yes, they need to be entered into the ecu.
                Me! Haha!!!
And if I can't do installation for you you best bet is d.i.y with my procedure!!! & backup.

On diagnostics, had one today the main injection period was all over the place, unusual. Anyway.........

I have a question in regards to injector feedback testing.

Is this carried out as part of the service by Toyota? I ask this because if they are on the way out, it would be nice to know before my engine grenades.

                  Cheers.

Not part of Toyota service. But it should be.
Those in the know make it p.o.s.

I asked the dealer at my last service, they said they would have to charge me about $100 for the check!! I said what? Max 10-15mins of running in the morning with a laptop and I DONT want you to do he tyre rotations 'included' in the service.... He agreed to not charge me.
Only got an "yeah they're OK" we don't keep the values or printouts etc
It's ok... Doing my own tech streaming anyway

there is a big difference in customer service between dealers.
I asked for this in the second service.
                          Done no questions asked.
When i picked the car up i was asked if i wanted a copy of the report.

they must of kept my request on record as it is done without me asking.
