My injectors are starting to show signs that it's time for replacement and as part of that process I'd been looking around for the potential to do more than just replace them with equivalents. Some friends with Hiluxes referred me to these guys who can do replacement ECUs that are fully programmable, higher flowing injectors, replacement turbos, etc: http://www.1kdperformance.com/

Wanting to know if anyone has any experience heading down this path (or similar) for performance gains in a Prado.

Generally most Prado owners are looking for reliability, longevity & economy. Imo That's a good way to be.
What you need to do is research & choose very carefully who you get to do the basics.
There is evidence around some performance places can't even do that right.

Thanks - that pretty much sums up my experience so far as I've been ringing around talking to places who claim to know what they're doing.

This has been discussed before and I think the consensus was that those sorts of performance mods needed to start with custom made pistons to avoid the melt-down problems associated with the light weight thin little nasties that live inside the block now.
