  • Recommended tuners in Sydney?

    Hi all,

Just picked up a 2014 facelift Prado and couldn't be happier. I've been reading these forums for a few months before purchasing the car, and have found them to be a great tool.

There is a lot of information on chips, most seem to be using a plug and play style chip like the DP chip, however I would much rather an ECU reflash/dyno tune that is more customizable to my vehicle. I've also seen that guys over in Perth are now programming the EGR to 0%, effectively acting like an EGR delete.

I'm looking for proven recommendations in Sydney/South Coast who know diesels and would perform an ECU reflash tune with a 4wd dyno. An idea on cost and what they were able to achieve with power, torque and EGR delete would be very useful too.

    cheers
    Dave

Being south coast Wouldn't you just go to Berrima diesel. They seems to have a big reputation and name in diesel tuning. Never used them so wouldn't know

Yes, have considered Berrima diesel. They do use DP Chip though, and I'd prefer a reflash. That said, they do have a special on a DP Chip and full exhaust for $2k at the moment!

Quiet simply Rail type chips suck. If your really keen on getting the prado going consider fitting an after market ECU. Are your in wollongong Give me a PM if your interested in seeing how the D4D preforms in a Hilux with a plug and play custom tuned unichip( piggy back ECU). The unichip has lots of features and also inbuilt engine temp protection.

I'd prefer a unichip or reflash but the cost seems expensive from doing a quick ring around. West End diesel have a reflash with dyno for $1700. The other thought I had was resale - there is an advantage with simply on selling a chip once the vehicle is sold too.

Has anyone compared a DP Chip to a reflash tune? If there is really only minimal difference between them, the DP Chip might actually be the go based on re sale.

Berrima Love the DP chip. In my mind all the rail chips do is increase rail pressure by tricking the ecu. Not safe or recommended and the most likely to throw the check engine light. With any tune/ecu/chip do yourself a favor and install an EGT gauge.
