  • Help - is it safe to drive with detached turbo hose?

Help, I'm hoping someone with the know-how is online.

I've just received a call from my hubby, on his way south with another 100km to go. Apparently the turbo hose has come off and there is a hose clamp missing. He's tried to re-attach the hose with a cable tie, but this has come off again. There is a hissing noise and loss of power. Is he ok to continue driving, albeit much more slowly, or can this lead to further damage?

    Thanks in advance!

I can't answer the question as I don't have a turbo but I imagine it wouldn't be wise. I have asked the question on a Prado group on Facebook on your behalf, I will relay any responses I receive.

Happened to me once, lucky i had a clamp though. Massive lack of power.
I would advise against driving it too as there is no air filter now. I'd wait til you can get a hose clamp on it.
If he has duct tape or anything tape around the hard hose to increase its diameter then try the cable ties to hold it on, will create a tighter seal
