  • EGR plate install guide

    Hi All,

I have a egr plate that I want to install in my 2012 TX prado , its a 3.0D4D engine . Does anyone have the guide or can point to the thread with a installation guide.

    Thanks in advance... Mike

Everybody got exited & thought this was a guide.

4 hrs work for me, so how many hrs to put into words how to do it?
    Too long.
    Some do's & dont's.

    Prado 120 & 150 are slightly different.
On the 120 you must remove the Intercooler. On the turbo side, don't undo the 4 10mm bolts.
Only loosen the upper clamp on the hose to turbo.
Don't pull & bust clips & clamps, take your time allow a day.
You must remove, lots to get to be able to remove the 2 upside down 10mm bolts on the bottom of the egr valve.
On the 120 remove the power steering reservoir. 3x 12mm bolts.
Remove the plug from the common rail. Don't break it.
Remove the 2x 10mm nuts holding the egr cooler to the head.
Remove the 12mm mounting bolt holding the egr cooler to the manifold. DO NOT FORGET TO REFIT IT LATER or risk breaking the cooler $900.
The egr cooler is free, only held by fuel pies locking it in & coolant hoses.

You will have just enough room to fiddle around & get the plate at the end next to the head.
Have fun with that. Put the nuts back on studs. Do them up, dont break the studs off.
Don't leave them loose. Put bolts back in the other end of cooler at egr valve before you tighten anything. Don't forget the mounting bolt. Now do them up evenly, just right.

Put all the other crap back which you had to remove to get to those 5 nuts & bolts.

Then there's removing the rest, egr valve & elbow section to clean.
If your mechanically apt, you will figure it out & be right. If your not, don't bother trying, you may forget one or many things, not worth it for a one off job.

    Wow that's nuff typing.
