So yesterday we set off home after a weekend of camping at a friends property. It was about a half km or so slow drive out of their property onto the bitumen road. Once on the bitumen I accelerated up to around 60kph and after couple hundred metres noticed a big cloud of white smoke billowing out of the exhaust. I pulled over with engine running and revved the engine a couple of times. In the time it took me to get out and walk to the back of the car the smoke had disappeared. My first thought was I'd blown a turbo or cracked a piston but there was no unusual noise and no power loss. I then drove the 180km home towing the Tvan with no further signs of smoke and no noticeable issues, i.e. no loss of power, no change in engine noise, no change in responsiveness, no apparent change in fuel consumption, etc.
Any ideas as to what this could be?
The previous day I started the engine and let it idle for a couple of hours to recharge the auxiliary battery. Could this have caused some kind of build up in the engine that was burnt off once I put it under a bit of load?
