Fuel wasted by DPF burn

Hi Guys,

Just worked out that approximately 0.4l/100km is wasted on DPF. When a burn is occurring approximately 50cc of fuel is used every minute and runs for about 20km or 15-20mins ave every 250km. This equates to 0.004l per km or 0.4l/100km.
Someone tell me if I screwed up but seems like a lot of fuel.

At that rate, it equates to $44 per 100,000km (if my calculations are correct).

not just the cost of the fuel , think of the long term cost of DPF replacement , could be big $$$$. all this will get worse when euro 6 is forced upon us.

You've said that it runs for 20km every 250km.
Edit: NVM, I see that your figures have already been averaged out. You're right on that figure.

When euro 6 arrives I think diesel will start to become extinct, small effienct petrol with turbo to produce a lot KW/ Torque, similar to the new Mazda 9 2.5lt 4 cyl turbo.
