Thanks Riv. I've already contacted Toyota guest experience who will contact the dealer. I will definately push to have that refunded. How will the dpf replacement work if i go to another who have no history of the car. Anybody know of any reputable dealerships in Sydney

I second that. No charge while under warranty.Originally posted by Riv39 View PostHey digys, that sounds wrong to me......you took it in as it was exhibiting a fault condition (white smoke). They run diagnostics and clean the dpf. One can assume this was done to correct the fault. IMO they should not be charging you for the diagnostics as this is part of a warranty repair. I have never been charged for diagnostics by my dealer even when I have asked them to check the injector values at a service. Time to ask for a refund and look for another dealership.

They ran a diagnosis amd cleaned the dpf housing r&r etc. They said if it blows smoke again bring it back for a dpf replacement. Then they proceeded to show me a quote for $2400 for parts. I laughed and said Toyota will pay for that the car is at 1 yr and 26000km.. After consulting with the service manager they said yes we will cover it. But i still had to pay a diognosis fee of $66. This cant be right.
Havent had any smoke so far...

Both our 2.8 Hiluxs at work did their DPFs at the same time, one has 20k and runs for 40mins on the highway every day, and the other is a suburb run for 30mins and has done 10k - both replaced under warranty.

[QUOTE=digys;568577]Hi Cuda,
I just noticed a plume of white smoke when taking off at the lights this morning on the way to work. Lasted for about 5 seconds as i was accelerating up the hill. drove for another 15 mins but couldnt get it to happen again. planted the accelerator a few times and no smoke. should i monitor or contat toyota right away. did you notice the smoke several tikes in yours? i have a 2016 2.8 vx with 25000ks on the clock.[/QUOTE
After the first time noticing the white smoke I contacted Toyota. Its now happened twice since. Only happens during a burn and usually taking off from the lights. Still awaiting new DPF was told it would be about a month and is ok to drive until then.

I've only driven it home. This weekend I'm heading to Jurien Bay so we'll have a better feel of any changes.

Have you noticed any difference in the way it drives? They said they did an ECU update on mine before I get the new DPF and noticed a significant improvement on performance. Seems more responsive and possibly greater torque and power.Originally posted by steve.armitage View Post
