It will be the same as a DVD 120 since it is the same motor, and would more than likley be the same chip.

      This might help you out:

I went trough Google and I haven't found any competition between Dp Chip retailers. Is there any place where they cost less than $1450?
I'm thinking about having one yet for below $1200.

DP are pretty well fixed in their price regardless of where they sell. Best I've been able to manage is a reseller who offers discount (5% or 10%) to members of the 4wd club he is in. This is a reseller offer only as DP push the price out.

              Re: Engine Chipping

I friend recently had a ChipIt Chip hooked up to his 200 series. He also had about four Hino trucks done as well. He had all of these tuned specifically to the vehicle so a fella from Perth flew over to Adelaide to do this. He said he is now going about 830Nm out of his 200 and is also getting exhaust and petrol injection done through the same mod. He highly recommends these guys. He did liust of some of the features that they offer and it all sounds pretty good. One nice thing is a security/remote module that allows them to update the tune remotly but also to detune the vehicle if it is stolen. I also believe it may have had a GPS module in it to help track it. These are additional festures over the standard $699.

                  1. Gold Coast 4WD & Performance Centre and
                  2. Troy from http://tunit.com.au/

The 4WD dyno was busy so we could not dyno tune it yet. However on setting 5 and a bit of street tuning it really transformed the car. The car takes off and pull up the hill with ease. It probably feels like a petrol Aurion atm.

We will install a K&N air filter (if there is one for the 150) and put it on the dyno next Tuesday.
Hey 6rpm any update on the tuneit chip, and did you get it onto the dyno, and what results :?: Thanks in advance

                    Re: Engine Chipping

Hello all , as this is my first time , please accept apologies if I do anything wrong.

I have viewed many topics on this website and think that it is great.

We currently have a 3.0 litre turbo diesel , silver pearl GXL on order for Jan / Feb of 2011 , so we are so excited about taking delivery.

The plan is for my wife and I in the near future , to tow a Jayco Westport around Australia so we are busy doing as much homework as possible on a heap of topics.

One of those is the possibility of getting a chip fitted to our Prado. There appears to be many around all making claims of increased power / torque / economy not affecting warranty etc....

I would love to be guided by someone with more knowledge than myself as I am leaning towards the DP Chip as there claims of power / torque / economy increase is also backed by after service support and new vehicle engine and driveline coverage , but again as being new to this would value input from those that have more experience.

We live in Perth and have sent an email away on their website seeking more information in regards to a local supplier and cost etc.... , we are just waiting for this to return plus some feedback from this site and then make a decision.

                    regards

                    Mark (and Stella)

                        Re: Engine Chipping

finally got around to calling chipit yesterday and they have finally released their chip for the 150. it sounds pretty good, he gave me some power and torque figures apparently 120hp (approx 90kw(must be at the wheels)) is standard and this was bumped up to 169hp (126kw).
Tourque also was up by 260Nm, from 527 to 787, apparently it's a calculated figure but i'm not real clued up on how they get it. :?
the good news is for around 1500/1600 you can have the chip installed aswell as a exhaust gas temp monitor that sits in the cab and automatically detunes the chip if the EGTs are too hot. and they give you a tune aswell. You can also have a EGR blanking plate fitted aswell, which is supposed to lift your performance aswell.
there is heaps of info on their website.
i think this is the way i'll be going. might even make it my next mod...

                          Ages,
I just had Chip It put a module in my 120 and I was astonished. I even had it put on a dyno and I went from 78.9kw to 107.8kw and 304.3nm to 427.3nm in the torque. These figures are at the wheels and not calculated. In real day to day terms it it has changed the feel of my car and it is extremely noticeable. The power comes on right from the word go and pulls a dual axle boat like its not there. I highly recomend it

                            sorry guys,
I forgot to mention I have slightly taller wheels on mine which gives off a lower reading. The bit to look at is the difference in each figure. It equates to 36% increase in power and 40% in torque. go buy one

                              Re: Engine Chipping

I just ordered the Chip It chip. Those guys seem to be upfront about exactly what the chips do and the price seems sensible to me. Paying 1500 bucks is rediculous for a lot of the chips on the market when all they do is intercept the rail sensor and give the ECU a low rail pressure reading so that it will bump up the fueling. You have a dial on the chip which effectively increases the ammount of rail pressure (hence fuel) and you are supposed to back this off when excess smoke is produced. It is ham-fisted tuning really. They claim fuel economy improvements, but I reckon this would only occur in situations where the extra torque allows a higher gear to be used than without the chip, such as towing, up hills or hauling loads.

Along with the price, the clincher for me with the Chip It chip is the fact it can plug into the MAF sensor and send a low pressure reading to the ECU, to enable a slight increase in boost. Therefore it is not just a case of simply adding more fuel but also more air. This means you would be able to add more fuel in before excess smoke is produced and would also explain why their chips seem to deliver higher power outputs than the competitors. The Prado tops out at around 10-11PSI standard which is very conservative compared to other diesels, so a small boost won't hurt.
Anyway, when the chip arrives I will let you know how it goes!

Not saying i dont believe you Hutch but I smell BS on this one. Knowing the way an ECU works, its very unlikely they would be able to detect if its installed or not, especially considering 99% of the chips fitted to vehicles like the Prado are "interceptor" style chips that cut into the wiring loom after the ECU, they intercept the signal for say the Injector Openings and modify the signal to suit what is programmed into the chip.

So this being the case, it would be nigh impossible for the ECU to even know if there was a chip installed. They only way they could track it is they inspected the wiring looms to see if anything have been modified, had additional harnesses to suit the chip, etc

If your manager has provided you with some information like "this feature here does xyz and will report back when a chip is installed because ...." then i'm all ears, until then ill remain doubtful of what your service manager has told you, and mark it down as the general "rehearsed answers" we all come across.
