  • Oil leak at the turbo

Appears to be an oil leak at the turbo, 2010 & 146 000Kms. Has anyone else experienced this?

Should be a thread on this in the 150 section, yours may be the same?
Son's 2012 had a bit of a leak. During routine service, Toyota said he needed a new turbo !!
He cleaned it up and it stayed dry for months, seems the "leak" was accumulated build up since new.
But he did some research and found the compressor housing on early D4D's was sealed by "O" ring but then Toyota changed to using sealant. Over time the sealant deteriorates and weeps oil which arrives from the crankcase breather recirculation system.
Another reason to fit a catch can.
I suggest you give it a degrease and see how she goes.

Mine did and was changed under extended Toyota warranty. Not much help I know but I was lead to believe it is a common problem.

Yep, the Provent should arrive today, then it's a clean up and monitor.

Pro Vent is in. I looked at the Flash Lube item but was put off by the need for tools to open the lid. The Pro Vent has a coarse thread which is almost like a bayonet, easy as. Very good kit from Western Filters that includes everything you need and a good price. The only modification needed was the right angle bracket to tie the supplied bracket to the guard to reduce movement. Everything else was "spot the dog" hose lengths were perfect.

So, nearly been two months now. The oil leak is very very minor, will continue to monitor. The Provent is doing it's job but generated a bit of noise, like a reverberation. Rang Western Filters and they said that they provide a different crank case pressure regulation valve spring to overcome this. They provided it no charge. Something to think about if you purchase a Provent at a discounted price.
