  • Prado 150 turbo replacement

    G’day, my 2010 Prado 150 D4D started making this noise.. Toyota tell me it needs a new turbo which costs $3900 to replace..has anyone gone through this?

    Seriously though, have a look at your stepper motor mate. They tend to go first more than the turbo, but Toyota wants to replace the whole thing.
    Or have a look at an upgrade. Grab yourself a gturbo for 3200.

      send the turbo down the Ben at Proflow in VIC.

        I'd be tempted to try one of the larger turbos if that happened to mine - I think it was Mamba or something like that who make reasonably priced but bigger turbos

          just had my 2013 prado serviced with 110000kms and told i need a new turbo quoted $4000 at toyota dealer. A great shock but no reason. going elsewhere

            You'd get a garrett for that... Get one of them, fit some +30 injectors and join the 200hp 1KD club

              I assume that will be done under warranty Gazolene as a reasonable person would expect a turbo on a $70,000 car to last longer than 110,000km.

                Recently went through this with ours at ~260k. High pitch whistle and losing power.
