2014 GXL 3.0L turbo diesel oil

I am not sure I am in the right place so please forgive my ignorance.

I have a 2014 3L turbo diesel prado and recently did an oil change and used Valvoline Super Diesel 15w-40.

Is is this an ok and appropriate oil to use? Running well and no engine lights etc. I spoke to a guy at repco and he suggested that I used the wrong oil. Any guidance appreciated

That oil is fine. I used it for years before switching to Penrite,
