    Still waiting on mine to arrive but sorry it didn't work straight out of the box.

    Do you want to try to workout where the issue is as it may be simple to find if you have access to a multimeter?

    If yes, on the connector you should have:
    • a short circuit to a chassis ground point on Pin 5 (white with black stripe).
    • either 5V or 12V between the chassis ground point and pins 3 (blue with white stripe), 6 (yellow with white stripe) & 7 (light green with black stripe)
    Once you have checked these let me know what you find and I can walk you through next steps.
    Hi mate,

    I know my way around a meter and I'm not scared about delving into the panels, will check my GXL tomorrow and get back you as I'm interested.

    I'm also currently looking at possibility of adding Rear Traffic cross alert/BSM, the computer is self contained in the master radar unit and everything talks via CAN to the displays, just need to check if the wiring is present, something this thread has raised my hopes on.

      Hi Toopy,

      Sound great :-).

      If you haven't read all the earlier posts #16 has where the wires run to on the Shift Indicator G303 connector and from there to the Engine ECU and Aircon Amplifier if you want to chase down where the disconnect is.

        Quick check this morning confirms the entire plug is OC, no ground or voltage.
        Will look into the other end & G303 over the weekend, can you tell me where G303 is, my diagrams show G304&5 but I can't locate G303

          Will be interesting to see where the harness terminates then.

          I had been wondering if there is a undocumented connection between that connector harness and G303/Engine ECU/Aircon Amplifier via the wiring for the seat climate control dials on the leather optioned vehicles.

            edit : never mind I got it, will pull the console tomorrow.

            So G303 is where? Sorry I edited my post after you responded, but I hadn’t refreshed my page to see you had.

              An update for anyone with a GXL

              I have made progress on the sport/eco mode for the gxl, I went straight for the source and looked at the loom on the Engine control ecu, the positions 12 & 8 on G184 are vacant so the wiring disconnect is somewhere between g303 and G184. Possibly missing completely from the main harness, I unwound the loom at that connector and they aren't in there at that point. I've yet to pull the Centre console but I think the eco/sport connector is part of the shift indicator which is why it's there on all models.

              However, I can CONFIRM! that the programming for sport/eco is present in the ECU as shorting G184-12 (PWMS)* to gnd temporarily, activates sport mode, Red at the top of the dash Sport written lower and their is a definite change to the shift pattern/throttle response. This is enough for me to buy the switch and I will wire it in.

                Hi all,

                An update, I have pulled the centre console, as expected the disconnect is at G303. The eco/sport connector is part of the shift position indicator as assumed.
                The wiring is missing from the main harness. While I was there I also checked for the connector for the MTS/Crawl panel which is also missing
                This leads me to believe there are two "base" configs for the prado. GX/GXL and VX/Kakadu (VX-L o/s) the wiring etc is loomed for each "base" config, then extras features are added to further differentiate the models.

                I recorded all the pinouts for both G303 and how it transverses to the eco connector.
                G303 ECO/Sport
                1 Red/white stripe -> Pin 1 unknown
                2 N/C
                3 Black (SPI)
                4 Green (SPI)
                5 Blue (SPI)
                6 Black/Yellow stripe -> Pin 10 unknown
                7 Green (SPI)
                8 Green/White stripe -> Pin 2 unknown
                9 Pink/ Black stripe -> Pin 8 unkown
                10 Purple (SPI)
                11 N/C
                12 White/Black strip (SPI) Earth/GND
                13 Light Green/Black stripe -> Pin 7 Normal
                14 Yellow/White stripe -> Pin 6 ECO
                15 Blue/White Stripe -> Pin 3 Sport
                16 White/Black stripe (SPI) Earth/GND
                17 Red (SPI)
                18 White/Black strip Pin 5 Earth/GND

                Now I just need to figure the illumination circuits out.

                  My switch finally arrived from Japan and was fitted in less than 5 minutes on the VX.

                  Works as expected and I was going to post some pics but there is a few already online so unless anyone specifically wants to see something in particular that's me sorted.

                  Now hopefully Toopy can get the GXL version completed and then its just a GX that we have no idea on (but at this stage we assume its the same as the GXL).

                    Would this work as well for a Petrol model 2012 Altitude? TIA

                      HI Memoge71,

                      Sorry all the research and info on this thread has been for the 2017+ facelift model.

                      Not certain if these settings were available on the 2012 1GR-FE engine and whether an equivalent mod could be done or not.

                        Is it an AC750F transmission?
                        The manuals don't show reference to eco/sport for that model.

                        Transmission in on your vin plate

                          My dealer quoted $270 for the Switch 84711-60030 with a 2-6 week delivery timeframe.

                              i have Kakadu 2023 model, i can feel huge difference between normal and sports mode.
                              i think it does a lot more than just throttle response,
                              definitely transmission behaves differently,
                              suspension definitely changes in comfort/normal mode car dives under braking at the traffic light, in sports mode almost no diving during hard braking.
                              but i think it might be changing fuelling too,if you driving on medium hill and having throttle constant and push the sports button it starts pulling a lot harder, but i dont see much difference in RPMs
                              the same on highway at constant speed push the button and you notice the difference.
                              mate has a throttle controller drove with him in his car, you can feel throttle response but engine sounds very different (noisy ) compared to the sports mode in Kakadu.

                              we got Kakadu for the KDSS and Airbags auto levels the height and more comfortable than Springs, better corner handling,
                              havnt towed with it yet, but i expect much better towing with KDSS/Airbags compared to standard setup.
                              had feedback from others that towing was great in Kakadu
