Has anyone tried one of these?

    https://www.aironboard.com.au/store/...9-08-2015.html

I have previously tried a system from a different company that plugged into the sensor on top of the air box. This was meant to make the car think that it was operating at temps around 1 degree Celsius and this was supposed to keep the EGR closed the majority of the time. Using either Torque Pro or OBD Fusion (cant remember which i was using at the time) it showed that the module made no noticeable difference.

Looking at the plug types for the air on board system this plugs into 2 sensors after the inter cooler on the top passenger side of the motor.

    any experiences, thoughts or theories?

    Cheers

Hi Wil, I fitted one 2 days ago, it works well ,no codes, the egr plug is disconnected so it definitely is closed. no turbo lag now and seems to be getting about 1.5 litres per 100 kms better economy on the same bit of road, going by the avg l/100km guage on dash. would like to see what EGT's and boost is like with it connected. One of the guys at air on board email me and said he has been running it on his 2.8 litre hilux for 8 months with no problems.

hi mate i bought it also but looking for some reviews before i start using it. It's pretty straightforward for installation no codes but i disconnected due to going to dealership for service.
if more ppl can give some feedback is there any problems comes up?
After installation of egr delete do i still need a catch can?

I still use the Provent catch can on mine.Had it fitted prior to the egr delete cable, no oil vapour going through the motor is still a good thing

            Hi,
I'm also waiting for some feedback for the 3.0 litre version. I've check their website and it is out of stock at the moment.
            Thanks

              Hi,
It seems no one have used this ( not many), anyway its available now from Air on Board for T3 ( 3.0 litre ), I just bought one . I will report back once I received it and installed, I just cleaned my EGR recently.
              Cheers

                Hi everyone,
I recently installed the AOB egr delet module on my 2.8L. It taps in between the MAF plug on the airbox and you disconnect the connector from the egr and plug it into the module instead so there is no longer a plug going into the egr.
I had no check engine lights when the unit was installed so im assuming the EGR is conpletely shut since there is no power going to it.
                a few key notes:
                - Engine load Value % went up to 14-16 at idle which usually stays around 10-11.
                - Egr actual % value went from 30-40% normal driving to 70-80% (although this is just what the ecu is reading not what the actual egr is physically doing)
                - MAF sensor voltage remained similar
                - Air inlet temp remained similar.

So with these values changing, im not 100% sure what the ecu is trimming for fuel and timing to accomodate the new values it is reading. My main concern is the rise of engine load value at idle. Any input from the more knowledgable would be greatly appreciated.

i decided to remove the unit as I wasnt sure its effects.

                  Hi Everyone.
I also installed mine arrived a while ago . I have no problem so far . I noticed that lagging on take off was much lesser, and my diesel consumption at the moment was less than I use to have ( 11.9 mix hi way and city drive now sits on 11.5) .Temperature remains the same. I don't have tools to measure details just relying on gauges and computer output for fuel consumption . Overall so far so good but its to early to say .For the meantime I leave it installed . I have cleaned my EGR before the install.
                  Cheers,
                  Ceasar

                    Hi ceasar,
Do you have an egt gauge? I would be i terested to know in your difference of egts pre and post module installation. From my very basic understanding, when the exhaust gas is recirculated, the fuel mix ratio has less oxygen as it is premixed with exhaust gases therefore the combustion temps is not as high as when there is no exhaust gases mixed into it which has a higher oxygen count producing a stronger combustion.

Based on my gauges, the egr is only active under partial throttle loads and is completely shut when full power is required.

                      Hi ,
Sorry for late reply. No I don't have any tools to do measurements ,just relying on temperature gauge in car. So far so good I don't have high temperature. My fuel is less 1.5 litres after installing the unit. I did camping during the long weekend and that's how I found out thru the in car computer . I will leave it for the time being, its working fine .
                      Cheers

                        Hi guys,

I bought the AOB EGR module for my 2018 2.8L which I have installed with the exception of connecting the EGR plug to the EGR cable. Unplugging the EGR cable from the EGR valve appears to be a rather awkward job. The EGR cable is located at the rear of the engine down low and not easily visible, I used an inspection mirror to confirm it was the correct connector. But the space available to get your hand on the connector to unplug it is really cramped, I can probably do it with effort but surely there is an easier method. Keeping in mind that I will want to reconnect the EGR as per standard engine when getting Toyota to service the vehicle whilst still under warranty. Anyone done this on a 2018 model ? Any suggestions on what the best approach would be ?

                        Cheers, Blackjack

I’m really considering getting one of there AOB modules.
Has anyone had any negative effects from installing one? It looks like some of you have had them for a few months now.
                          cheers

No real other way unfortunately, once its disconnected though I would suggest spraying some form of lubricant to help ease future removals.

I ran mine for roughly 500kms and had no check engine lights come on. Most of the engine parameters were within the value prior to installation except Actual EGR % value went to 70-80% (normally 30-40%) under partial throttle loads.
