DPF / EGR delete, still required ???

Hi to all.

Having recently purchased a 2016 2.8 diesel Prado, I am in the process of getting it set up for touring & more challenging 4wding.

I have already fitted a Hammel Provent catch can, & am wondering about the need to do the (not very legal) EGR delete.

Is the EGR taken from the exhaust before or after the DPF. If after, does the DPF filter enough of the soot from the exhaust to not require an EGR delete.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

EGR even with DPF will still block the manifolds with sooty-caked gunk. The catch can helps make it less oily, so it's not like glue, but the carbon will still build up from the EGR. The DPF is downstream and has no effect on the EGR stuff, but yes, makes less soot out of exhaust downstream so to speak.

Thanks for your reply. I have a lot to learn about my new to me Prado & each time I drive it I am enjoying it & learning more.

I drove my last 4wd, a 2001 TD Jackaroo for 20 years, & knew all its idiosyncrasies & had it well set up.

Now I need to do the same with the Prado. Hopefully another 20 years of happy traveling & 4wding.
