  • Air noise while accelerating

Hi everyone, I am a new member here. I have a 2016 2.8L Diesel GXL Prado that has done 70,000km (owned from new and regularly serviced). Recently I noticed a strange noise while accelerating between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. The noise is consistent and can be best described as “sucking of air through a gap”. There is no foreign body from air intake to filter and there is no other noticeable performance differences. The noise is there both while in gear and in neutral. I am wondering anyone has experienced this and what the issue might be. Thank you.

Check that the lid of the air filter enclosure is seated properly. I've even had the local Toyota service department not seat it properly before snapping down the clips - and they should know of the design fault. Air (and dust) can bypass the filter if it is not seated properly.

Thanks. Have checked and both air filter and enclosure are okay.
