  • normal engine heat temperature

    hi there ,

    i bought 2007 v6 prado vx and guys i have a question
what is the normal engine temperature in hot weather ?

I don't know the answer to your question, but someone with a ScanGauge will be able to tell you what the normal coolant water temperature is.

If course you can buy one to keep tabs on your engine's temperature!

Is there any real benefit with Scanguage in a 150 ? With all the electronics on board already, surely you are just duplicating most of the current signals/readings ? I guess if you are concerned about particular measurements, it could be handy to have them all in one spot, but to me it just looks like $170 I could throw at something else

More than happy for someone with one installed to throw me a sales pitch, but at the moment I can't quite see the point of it in a new car.

      cheers

        Hi Damien

Scanguages give you instantaneous readouts on heaps of stuff that 'may' be of interest to you.

On my last vehicle i had one fitted (1kzte doesnt work) and it was worthwhile when towing the jayco camper. You could watch the temp readout move and it was far more accurate than the temp gauge in that the temp would go up and the gauge would move only a little a while later.

I could lend you mine if you liked to test it out. Mine is having a rest at the moment.

          Hi Taz,

I am trying to talk the missus into a trip to the centre of Oz ..... I think a trip to Tazzie is too far to take you up on that offer and geez at this time of the year it freezing down there for those of us that don't have winter

I suppose as you say Scanguage is displaying instant info from the cars computer and if you can easily customise what you are seeing then it certainly has its advantages.
At the moment I don't have any particular info I need to keep an eye on so I will hold off for the time being.

          Thanks for the info
