3.4 Ticking sound, knocking noise front end

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a 97 Prado 3.4 and I have 2 queries. The engine ticks while idling and I'm not sure it is normal, it is on Gas. Also, there is a knocking noise when I drive over small bumps that I can feel at my feet, any idea what this could be? Otherwise it's a fantastic car!

Sounds like the tappets may need to be checked and shimmed up or its a really noisy injector ? OR it could be a pully with a bearing on its way out but I doubt it or it would be more of a droning/grinding sound. The knocking noise may be the steering rack ends floating about (usually passengers side), which is transmitting back through the rack and more then likely rack bushes are stuffed as well ?? common problem with the 95's, also you have posted in the wrong area, should be under the 90 section....Might pay you to post in the correct and delete this one from the 150 section. Just a tip as you may get more replys to the problem..Cheers Steve
