    Steve,
    Your opinion please.
I just had another thought - could the excessive dust and red dirt etc from driiving through the Kimberley and off road elsewhere casued a more rapid decline in the rear pads?

      Thanks Stewy,
It's good to get an idea of wat others are experiencing.
I'll know more Friday and let you all know.
Re the injectors - I imagined this was probably more of an issue with Deisel engines.
I might get them done next service.
      Thanks
      Michael

Brake wear is extremely dependent on driver and conditions as opposed to injectors, the only factor here that would cause concern is dodgy fuel.

My son in law is a Toyota trained mechanic and tells me that injector cleaning is as easy as adding it to fuel on a regular basis by yourself.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

How about filling up with 98RON? Doesn't it have cleaning additives?

I'll ask as he puts some in mine regularly when visiting.

My wife does a lot of city driving and I replaced the front pads at 60,000km. I replaced the rears as well because I could but they probably had another 15-20,000km.
If you have a trolly jack get it out and whip a wheel off and check for yourself. Take you 10mins.

Hi all I have got a friend in a toyota dealer ship in Darwin. And a few years ago I asked her the same question about servicing the injectors in my commodore when i was traveling from Port Hedland to Grafton, When I got to Broome a few hundred km's in to my travels the car was only getting around 10L/100km's where it should be around 8 or so. So I gave her a ring and they said all they do is put injector cleaner in the fuel tank when you fuel up at the servo. So i did that for a couple of tanks and then when I was around the Three Ways on the barkley highway I was getting around 8 again for the rest of the trip on the way home. And even to day I still put injector cleaner in the prado on occasions had no trouble with the old commodore.

                    cheers Keith

                      OK.
First - Thanks to all for you input.
                      Can now report back that:
                      (a) I chose not to get the injectors done at the 50k service - will use addidtive when find out which is recommended.
                      (b) As for the brake pads - I took the car back in this morning and asked to be shown the pads when up on the hoist . Sure enough the rear pads were worn more than fornt pads - and whilst they could have gone a little longer - may not have lasted to next scheduled service. So they were correct to advise the change. The head mechanic told me that the 150 series has increased fluid pressure to rear brakes compared to earlier models - and so they are finding that replacing rear first is not that unusual (in the 150). Also thought that whilst this meant the rear pads did not last as long - it was their opinion that the braking performnce was noticeably better in this model - particularly as they are heavier - the think the braking is more balanced when braking hard, therefore safer in emergency situations or when on wet or gravel roads etc. I can't comment as this is the first Prado I have had.
Anyway - Rear pads are now done and my pocket lighter.
Thanks again for the feedback guys

So you are saying the replacement of the brake pads is not covered under the fixed price service!

Was told at purchase time that the 'Fixed Price Service' covered everything replaced during a normal service.

Was someone telling me 'porky pies?'

Brake pads aren't replaced in a normal service though... What's in the logbook is what's covered.
