  • V6 Issue of consumption calculation vs gauge & kms

    Hi

I received my 150 VXL V6 last week.
I filled up the tank (150L) and everything is working nicely.
The remaining km indicated roughly 870km; the main counter indicates 24l/100km consumption... as the central console log.
But after 200km it looks like more the consumption is half of that.

Any ideas ? Looks that the jauge knows it is a big tank; but something in the system does not know.
Precision : it looks that the 2nd tank was an option on this model.

    thanks

those figures are averages, before you took delivery, that prado would have driven stuff all kms and probably idled while using petrol.. hence the computer thinking it would use that much fuel to do that many kms.. now that it's being driven properly, the average is coming down.

fill it up then reset the trip gauge as said above its an average from day dot. mine gets about 800-900ks a tank as well.

Mine does around 800km per refuel. I drive 10km per trip in week days and about 30km each in weekends.
It looks like that yours 10% better. Can I ask what petrol do you use?

Hey Darren, Are you expecting it to improve with a supercharger? 😊

I'm sure it actually would BUT I don't think mine will ever get charged. I want more power but the prado is never going to be a Tarmac tearer so best left as is. I'm better off using the 12k to buy a VT 5.7 gut it, cam it, put some slicks on and go have fun at the strip.

My fuel consumption (V6 Kakadu) according to the gauge was reading as 18L/100KM when I first picked up the Prado. Now after a refill it's reading as 18.6L/100KM. Was I supposed to reset the trip meter when I refuelled? Sorry, I'm still working my way through the 2 folders of handbooks they gave me LOL.

The GXL has two options first is automatic, fuel consumption since last fill up, or u can reset the average. Since changing jobs and the direction I travel my average during the week is now down in the 14's, the scan gauge is showing 12/13's for some trips to work.
                            Couldn't get under 15/16 previously.

I put the gauge on the "last refill" setting and it's showing 22.4l/100km now. I put the gauge on this setting very soon after refilling, wouldn't have traveled more than 5km. My figures seem awfully high, I only have the TJM steel bar adding extra weight.
