I am wondering if anyone knows of problems associated with copper injectors which have been reported in UK failing on Landcruisers resulting in to engine replacement.

Other forums have reported that injectors can be replaced for approximately $1400 which is better than cost of total engine replacement.

My question is : Is this problem a known problem for Australian Prado petrol models.

I have a 2008 model Prado Grande, 4.0L Auto Petrol and would appreciate any comments on known problems related to injectors or any other issues.

    Urgent info appreciated.

    Re: Injectors

The probem you have read about is for the D4D diesel series of engine not the petrol V6. In the UK they had some issues with the sealing washers (which were changed from alloy to copper or vise versa by Toyota un warranty).

The other issue is injectors going out of spec and causing a "rattle" (world wide issue) this is also a D4D only issue.

The petrol V6 is a solid motor with no injector (or major mechanical) issues.

      Mick,

Thannks for that quick response - its a relief that the problem is not associated with the petrol version.

I am going to import my Prado to the UK and the warranty will not be valid there. Also have been informed by one Toyota dealer in the UK that they will not service or deal with any imported Prado. So just a little worried about potential problems that could arise.

      Cheers
