VIN for 2011 built Prado

Hi there. I ordered 2011 BUILT Prado GXL specifically. Expect delivery end of March.
I received following VIN JTEBH3FJ90K048xxx from dealer.
Can anyone tell me please whether this is indeed a 2011 built vehicle?
I searched Google and understand that digit 10 of the VIN indicated the built year, in this case "0" (2010)......

That did cross my mind also, although that would only be a small inconvenience considering the drama that unfolds there. I actually read that Toyota did shut all their plants today.

Mine is at the dealers, took up my 120 today to trade and pick the 150 up Thurs or Friday. Following it on the tracker the build date was stamped on plate as Feb 11 and the compliance plate in Oz as March 11. I could be wrong but thought that was where the build date is determined.

cjd, I think you may be right. Did some further research and it seems you can't really tell the built date from the VIN number construction. The 10th position is probably the model year, which in fact is 2010. On my 2003 Corolla, the 10th digit is 0 also, so I am confused. Probably will just have to wait till it arrives at the dealer this week.

My Toyota website updated today. February 2011 built car, Compliance Plated March 2011. "Preparing for Transportation" .. to the local dealer. Not to sound insensitive to whats happenning in Japan but I was also relieved mine was already being shipped.

Just had a look at mine and it has a 0 in the tenth position but is a Jan 11 build, Feb 11 compliance, picked it up late Feb

Am I right in assuming that once the dealer has provided you with the VIN then the car is in the country?

The VIN#, Engine# is populated in the web tracking site when it is still overseas and has reached that stage. From memory I saw this info when it was still showing in production status.

A VIN plate is put on by the manufacturer when the car is built. It has all the cars numbers to match with trim codes, options etc. A Compliance plate is put on by the country where the car goes to stating that it complies with that country's standards.
