  • Kakadu phone and nav system

During my 1k km service I asked the dealer to programm the key to enable closing the sunroof remotley by holding down the close button on the key.
This has now been done, however, I noticed today that certain functions such as phone dialing, accessing the address book and imputing destination cannot be done whilst the vehicle is in motion.
I'm sure that I could access these funtions prior to this change to the sunroof was made. What is the point in having "hands free" when you have to stop the car to use it, I can just as well dial from my mobile.
Can anyone tell me how their system function in this regard??

in the aurion presara I'm currently driving, it's the same, you can't use any of the features such as destination input, address book etc. when the car is in motion. ridiculously frustrating when you've just spent $X amount on a car only for it to tell you what you can and can't do.

hmmm...........and I thought the UK was overly H&S conscious ...... can use the navigation etc whilst the vehicle is moving here in the UK (couldn't on my previous 120 though) ..... so I would assume if its legal for you to use such functions whilst in motion it is a matter of getting the settings adjusted ....... ?

Has anyone removed the navigation screen from the dash of a Kakadu?
I have been told that to enable the full use of the phone system whilst in motion, there is a wire from the speedo to the nav screen which becomes active at 8km/h, thus blanking out major features of the phone and nav systems.
If this wire is cut the full use of the system is avaiable whilst in motion, for $90k one should expect to have this system availble perminently I would have thought!!!!

Anybody heard or know about this gadget?

Prestigious society (http://www.prestigioussociety.com) make a plug and play navigation enhancer that at a push of a button makes all the features available on your navigation, telephone and audio menus.
Has anybody got or know someone who got that enhancement for their Kakadu's?

It has nothing to do with how much you pay for the car it has to do with road safety. Last thing you want is a driver scrolling through phone numbers or loading an address into the satnav at 110kph on a country road, or even heading down a busy street etc etc makes sense to me. Just load your most used numbers to be voice control active then it's just one button on the steering wheel.

hi, mind if i ask what you did to modifiy your front camera. I stuck a nudge bar on my kakadu which finishes at the top/start of the bonnett and the bar across for the driving lights is right in level with the camera and ive got about 5% vision of it?

I will be able to give some feedback on this shortly (www.prestigioussociety.com). The unit arrived yesterday. The aim is to allow my front seat passenger to set navagation when required as well as control the state of the DVD's on our long trips.
I got this response from them when I asked the question the other day...

"Thank you very much for your inquiry. Yes, we have an application for the 2010 Land Cruiser Prado. It is the same application as the US 2010 Lexus GX460. The application also comes with a step by step installation instruction for Prado.

You can place an order directly from our website here by selecting 2010 Lexus GX460: http://www.prestigioussociety.com/?page_id=138

On the Note to Seller section when you are completing your order, please enter for 2010 Prado. This will ensure we ship you the right application with the right set of installation instruction. FYI, the installation for the Prado is very easy and should take no more than 30 minutes.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We look forward to hearing back from you soon.

                    Sincerely yours,

                    Sales Team
                    PS, Inc."

$299USD plus $40 shipping to Australia.

                      prestigious society module fitted

Took 30 min to do the installation.
                      Works great.
I stuck the switch for the module on the left next to the steering column.

When the switch is activated, changes can be made to the following,
                      1. Navigation input is possible. The computer believes that the car is stationary. On cancellation of the switch, the nav system takes a few seconds to 'find its' self', then all is back to normal.

2.The Telephone menu is available for making calls to your entire directory or manually touch -screening in a new number.

                      3. my aux (i.e Ipod via Iphone4) woks great, i.e able to access artist menus, new playlists etc.

After activating tghe switch to make changes to the central console, the system reverts back to standard after 5 minutes if the switch is not cancelled.

At the back of the radio unit, everything was plug and play and took less than 5 minutes.

Now the passenger can make all the changes while on a trip; no need to stop on the side of the carriage way.

                        iPhone 4 through aux

                        Hi Jonah,

Could u expand on point 3 above? I've checked the site, but couldn't find anything about making ur iPhone 4 behave like an iPod. When I plug my iPhone 4 into the aux and launch the iPod app, it says it's not compatible. Can you confirm that installation of this module make this work, or am i missing something a bit more straight forward?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

                        Nads.

I have a 2012 Kakadu and just installed this module today. It took me about 5 minutes and it is very simple plug and play.
Now all I have to do is press (-) (-) (+) (+) on the steering wheel volume and everything is unlocked on the navigation system and can be used while the vehicle is in motion. This DOES inhibit the pulse sensor so when going back to 'map' mode it's take a few seconds for the GPS to update the position but that's a small price to pay. Cost was USD$318 express freight (was about 8 days).
