  • Lost Prado 150 Key

Hi a word of warning look after those keys. My wife lost her key to the Prado last week. Quote from a Toyota dealer

    $425 for the remote unit
$75 for the little key in the side of the remote unit
    $40.00 to program the key.

That is a blatant rip off and luckily for me (her) she has since found the key at work and we do not need the services of Toyota for a replacement key.

Yep, very expensive indeed. When we took delivery of our Prado the salesman handed us the two fobs with a warning about not losing them becuase they would cost $700 each to replace. The good news is they've come down in price.

Yep, looks like I just had an expensive game of golf.
Short version, after a round of golf this morning I headed back to the car and after doing the tap of all my short pockets and up ending everything out of every knook and cranny on the golf bag I could not find my key anywhere.

Any suggestions for replacing the key without spending $400+ via Toyota ?

Nothing unique there, plain old steel keys for any car with remote are the same price from the dealer. And they are the only ones who can supply because all "dumb" keys are still active with the immobiliser rolling code and these are only available from the manufacturer.

They aren't dear, just a monopoly on the supply.
