Is that legal to decrease the wheel track?..,

18 inch wheel, looking for 17 inch, seems 120's stock alloy can be fitted on,
but 150 is 25p offset and 120 is 30p, so it will decrease the wheel track by 10mm.
i know i can increase the wheel offset by 26mm at most, but cant find any information about if it's legal to decrease the track...
anyone know this?

You don't say where you are from but it is definately illegal in Qld to reduce the track of a vehicle. As far as I am aware this is the same in all other states and territories but you will need to check you local regulations.

Why would you want to change to 17" rims?? if it because the 17" tyres are cheaper you are a tight arse,, $40---$50 grand for the car and you want cheap tyres?? . Sorry you may have a good reason for changing.

Hi raydes,

i dont think there are many choices of tyres if i stick with stock 18 inch.
also, i can run higher profile tyres on 17s.
There is no way cheaper if go to 17 inch, I need another set of rims too. And no one pay me full price on my 18s.
AT tyres usually last more than 50k km, i dont think who can run cheaper on 17s if they were on 18s.

I assume that you have already ordered your car but you may be able to do something with the dealer, swap the 17s off a GXL for your 18s. I know someone who did this with their X5, it came with 20" wheels and he swapped them for 18s I think. Dealer was happy. Worth a try.
