2011/2012 Prado Update

Hi All,
I am about to set up a lease on a new Prado Diesel (still tossing up between the gx and gxl) and was just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny if we are getting an update model in the next few months? I have read about the Eu model with the slightly increased diesel output that apparently isn't coming to australia, but have also read a few vague posts on random forums saying that there is an updated diesel coming at the end of this year. A mate of mine also went into a Toyota dealer last week enquiring about one, the dealer advised him there is an update coming at the start of next year but couldn't tell him what the update consisted of.

I was just wondering if anyone has confirmed info about any pending updates for Australia and can you link me to a press release or anything if there is one available?

I've got a GXL ...the GX doesn't have quite a few bits that the GXL has ...I think the extra for the GXL is worth it .
I've always maintained that you're better not to jump into the first release of any new model , let the customers debug them first . But as this is an update maybe it'd be ok .
I'm quite happy with the 150 model , I've also had a 120 and the 150 is an improvement .

I was at a dealer this week who reckons a new engine is on the way next year - will be a 6 cyl diesel. He says to get on the toyota prado website 'contact us' and tell them you want the 6 cl to come soon as the competition engines are more appealing. Reckons that will be passed on and may accelerate the coming of the new engine. Also let the dealers know that is what you are wanting. Who knows if it is true!

Watch the market get flooded end of the year with a mass of 4cyl diesels.

I'd expect there'll be a $10K premium for the 6cyl diesel and only available on the top end models initially.

10k premium on the gxl and standard on VX and Kakadu..... my 2c's

The 4 cylinder diesel is a top motor, plenty of torque and power plus it is only 4 cylinder rego and uses less fuel than a 6 would. The V6 petrol is bigger, more powerful and uses more fuel yet they sell a lot more 4 cylinder diesels...

I asked my dealer a few weeks ago if there was a new motor coming and he said no in the foreseeable future. He reckons there is a new model/update in the pipeline but still with the 4cyl diesel. But I really hope your dealer is right! :-)

I can confirm that there is a new facelift/version of the 150 series Prado; I spoke with a salesperson from a Sydney dealership who mentioned that a bulletin was released that current shipments will be late due to new facelift/version. There was nothing in the bulletin describing the new facelifts/additions/changes.

Hey guys/gals
I spoke to my dealer who is about to order my GXL tomorrow and he mentioned the "facelift" will be the new mudflaps and privacy glass, so you will only have to tint your front two windows. Thats all he mentioned. Be interested if anyone knows of anything else.

The vx and Kakadu wont have any options anymore. That is the sat nav 14 speaker stereo option will now be standard in the vx and on the kakadu there will also only be one variant so the off road pack will now also have the radar cruise control and active braking system as standard. The GXL as you say toddcpo will have privcy glass

That would have made sense from the start... Having one or the other was ridiculous.
