Just got my Altitude this week and have insured it with AAMI. $608 for full comprehensive @ a market value of $69,400. The discovery 3 I just traded on the Altitude cost me $736 for an agreed value of $30,800 and it was a 2005 build. Seems weird to me but then Landrover parts are not cheap I suppose. Looking forward not taking the Altitude out for a run to Palm Valley this weekend and see what it is capable of.

Hi Glamper,
Can I recommend you find a new insurer? Sorry to impose but I have had some very bad experiences with the way AAMI handle there cover.
I was unlucky enough to have and accident in a 6 week old car that I paid $75k for a few years back. Every repairer that I took the car too said the damaged panels needed replacing, however AAMI assured me they weren't prepared to do anymore that hammer my car back into shape and bog what they needed too!
Its not easy to picture the damage but the car that hit us from behind was towed and my bonnet was teepeed like a tent at 30 deg from the centre from ramming into the car in front.
I was fortunate that the car at fault was insured with Suncorp and they allowed me to find a repairer that I was comfortable with and they replaced all the damaged panels and fixed my car the way I wanted it to be fixed.
Admittedly Suncorps cover was $100/annum more than AAMI at the time but I can tell you that it was great peace of mind knowing I was in better hands in the unlucky event that I needed their services again.
I learnt a valid lesson that paying a little more means you can be absolutely sure. I cancelled my insurance with AAMI and never bothered with them again.
Just me 2c
Cheers,

Picked up our Altitude in Crystal Pearl today. Love it and the kids love the DVD player. Drives nicely and more pick up than expected.
Roof racks, headlight protectors and bonnet protector on as well as all mats. Towbar next week - can't wait. even thinking of taking on the mighty Burdekin River. Macrossan bridge was 7m over today so that might have to wait for another day!

Congratulations on the new prado, enjoy!
Am thinking of going out to Bivouac Junction for a weekend sometime next month for a bit of R & R.

Gotta say I love the new Altitude. The only thing I can fault with ours is that the steering wheel is slighly off centre and is turned to the right a little when going straight. No big deal just an adjustment. I took it in to a Toyota dealer today to get the 1000km check/ service and also the steering wheel adjusted. This dealer is closer to home and is not the dealer that I bought the vehicle from. Initially I was told it would be an hour and when I dropped it off they told me 2 - 3 hours. It gets worse, they called me about 15 minutes later to advise that as I hadn't purchased the vehicle from them I would most likely have to pay for the wheel alignment. WTF not going to happen. They then went on to say that I may have hit or clipped a gutter causing the wheel to be out. GRRRRRRRRR. This is my baby and I would know if I'd hit something. Anyway contacted the dealer whom I purchased the vehicle from and it's all booked in for Thursday. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

Stay alert with those dealers, unfortunately they'll make any excuse to sting you a few extra bucks. They don't like being told how to do their job, but sometimes you just have to stand your ground, prove you know what you're talking about and that you know they are talking rubbish. I suggest you check and make sure that the steering is OK before you take the car home on Thursday."Sure it’s quiet, for a diesel, but that’s like being well-behaved… for a murderer."- Jeremy Clarkson
