2012 Prado Specs now updated on Toyota Website

I've just noticed that the new specs for the 2012 Prado have been mentioned on the overview specs page on the Toyota website.

It mentions the VX getting the Satnav, 17 speaker JBL stereo system as standard and the Kakadu having the Radar Cruise Control and the 17 speaker JBL as standard. I'm not sure if the JBL system was in the Kakadu in the past. I cant see anything different mentioned on the GXL.

When you click on the specifications page this is blank so it must be still being updated.

It will be worth keeping an eye on.

There is no mention of KDSS on any model, but it does mentions (VSC) Vehicle Stability Control across the range.
I wonder if this is the same as KDSS but re-named?

KDSS is different to VSC. KDSS is essentially computer controlled sway bars that allow for more articulation off road and less body roll on road.

It looks like they have updated the pricing for the VX and Kakadu also...

VX Petrol RRP 77490 (previously 74490)
Kakadu Pet RRP 90990 (previously 87990)
Kakadu Dies RRP 91990 (previously 88990)

So you don't get anything for nothiing...

The current GXL has VSC, HDC, SC, TC and plenty of other acronyms. The good thing is they all work, the only thing I'm a little dissapointed is the stereo is a bit average in sound quality. An extra $3k though probably look at the special edition Altitude may be be better value.

MLC and TLC are optional extras, similar to TLD (Track Limiting Device) and SLD (Speed Limiting Device) fortunately all these options are deletable

I picked up my wife's new Kluger yesterday and the salesman said that KDSS is still alive and kicking. I said the VX now comes standard with satnav but he showed me the $2500 price charge for satnav so effectively Toyota have just optioned it for you and charged accordingly.

I can confirm the GXL has the privacy glass in the rear. I just saw one getting loaded on a truck.

Well I just got off the phone with my dealer and he told me that the VX I have on order will cost me an extra $3200.
After some further negotiation and threatening to cancel the order, we agreed on a $2000 increase.

Then he proceeded to tell me that my delivery has now been pushed back another month to the end of Feb being due to flooding in Thailand (as some components are manufactured there).

Anyway... I'm sure the wait will be worth it!!

WHAT!? you signed a contract for a particular price... That's the price you should be paying, definitely no more than.

Yes I did sign the contract AND paid a deposit which I also argued with the dealer. He basically said that in the fine print of the contract it states that if Toyota increase the price of any car whilst it is on order, the dealer reserves the right to pass on those increases.
I checked this on my contract and it is correct. It does however work both ways, so if I'm not happy with the increase I can cancel my order.
