  • Glove box "sticking"

    Hi Guys,

This might seem trivial, but recently I've notice when closing the glove box on my 150 GXL it sticks about 1 inch from fully closde. Seems to get stuck then with a bit more force closes ok. Does anyone have this issue, does the glove box door close smoothly without any hinderance or "clicking" when near shut ? If someone could please check that would be great. Doesn't seem normal to me and will get Toyota to look at when the mudflaps get swapped.

    cheers
    Rob

We have the same problem, not sure what it is. Not even sure when it started. Let us know what Toyota says when you get the new mudflaps, they are way better than the shorter version, no more gravel rash.
    Cheers

Same here. It seems to stick on the LHS about an inch or so from closing. Mine's going in for a service this week so will get them to check it then. I will let you know what they find.

        Cheers

I had mine out the other day and when I went to put it back in I hadn't clicked the bottom brackets in fully and it was not closing properly. Maybe try removing it and re-seating it as this definitely helped with mine.

My 'sunglasses' holder in the roof has started sticking (use it to put my ordinary glasses in when at the golf course - 3 times a week ...)) - will have to try squirting it with something?

Last time had car serviced had same problem Had not left dealer before noticing. The A/C something is behind glove box so the glove box is taken out at service. Can take it out yourself I think & put it back properly.I must say that it still doesn,t seem to fit quite right.

I had the same problem after changing the air con filter.
After close inspection, I found out that the 2 hinges at the bottom are the problem. After few trial & error by re-position them, the glove box was position properly.
Guys, try it yourself by re-position the 2 hinges, how you remove the glove box, reverse the order at the same position while removing the box. hope it helps.

                  Guys,

I solved the issue. I removed the glovebox, on the LHS there is a small plastic hydraulic cylinder (like a mini gas strut) which is supposed be connected to the glovebox bracket in two places (via plastic tabs), seems this device was only connected with one plastic tabs. I re-installed the cylinder device properly and now all good. No more hesitation when closing etc.

                  cheers
