  • Air flow into arm-rest/coolbox

I recall the airflow into the arm-rest coolbox in the 120 series being fairly strong and it would get pretty cool in there when the air con was on full. With the new 150 ive turned the vent every which way but air flow seems to be minimal and never seems to get as cold as the air coming out of the regular dash vents.
    Is anyone else finding this?

Just had a look. The flow appears minimal but the temp feels cold. My 120 gxl did not have this so i cant compare

I'm with you Kakadaz. In WA the air temp can a bit warm but the drinks in the box are always very cool. This is one of he features of the Kaka I thought was a bit of a nothing but it has turned out to be wonderful especially on long dusty drives. Saves having to go the fridge.

Bloody awesome in my 120 Grande! I can throw 8 cans of (assorted) drinks in the centre console coolbox and by the time I'm on the Bruce H'way they're nice n cold! The fan output is quit good although a little noisy ( only when you open the lid though)

Hmm, could it be that since I have downgraded from the GXL 120 to the GX 150 the 'option' may not be included!??

The air into the armrest box in my 150 is enough to keep water at a "cool" level, but I wouldn't be putting any important life preserving liquids (read beer) in there

... note to self, Richo must be weird (read gay), he drinks water.

Ahem, my cool box would keep a severed body part cool for 3 days while I continue camping. You boys with the 150's will just have to tuffin up or get a 120 Grande!

If you think I'm going to bite on that one ....ooops, I'll have to ask my wife, Gay (true story), if I can experiment while she drives the car as to the temps that the cool box can achieve, may mean another recce! Yay!

Not sure of the specs on the 150 but I would imagine the 150GXL woudnt have the actual box cooled like the 120 grande or the kaka, I would have thought this would be a standard thing on the kaka not GXL. Maybe the air going to the 150 GXl's is just like the air coming out the vents where as the 120 grande and 150 kaka have their own evap built inside the coolbox ?? Would be huge difference in cooling... Cheers Steve

120 GXL with cooler box would be a first ?? Thought this was only available on the Grande standard, even the 120 VX doesnt have it ?? Cheers Steve

Right on the 150 GXL has an aircon duct at the front. If anything like the aircon set at 24 then maybe it will cool.

Now I have an excuse for more research

Just checked specs on redbook and both the kaka and GXL 150 is classed/named as a Centre Console - Cool Box. Couldnt imagine them putting a cool box in a 150 GXL. Maybe just cool air is directed from the aircon vents to the centre console just to cool slightly where as the kaka has its own evap like the 120 grande ??? Would be interesting to have a look at one and check out the diff between the two. Would pay to have a look under neath. I may be wrong but Im sure the 120 grande has the aircon pipes running up into the cooler box from under the vehicle like the rear aircon ??? Would be interesting to see if the 150 has the same and wether the same set up under the 150 is the same for the GXL and kaka for the cooler box ?????? Cheers Steve

I have a GXL 150, its not even cold airflow, its coolish, Kaka has the actual cooled box, mine keeps fluids at a resonable temp, might have to chuck a thermometer in.

The 120 Grande centre console is a fridge. Keeps drinks very cold as long as the engine is running and has an on/off switch just inside the lid. I would imagine the 150 Kakadu is the same, I don't how other 150 series models are equipped.
