  • The perfect 150 Prado ?

I am hoping to buy a new Prado in the next few months, I have been looking hard at the various models, features & prices. Every Prado is a compromise between what you would like & what you can afford.

If you had full control of the standard equipment that Toyota puts into various Prado models, what do you think Mr Toyota should include or delete from your ideal vehicle ?
Start off with the base vehicle spec you would buy, then add or delete equipment (from other Prado models) as you see fit.
If we get enough people wanting the same things, maybe Mr Toyota may build it !

    I will start it off......

GXL Auto Diesel as a base vehicle
2nd A/C deleted (dont need it)
3rd row seats deleted (to give a flat cargo floor)
    Cloth seats not leather.
Definately keep the twin fuel tanks

Fairly simple vehicle that should be easy to build, & cheaper than current GXL to buy.
    I would buy one !

Why not just buy a GX?

Because the GX misses out on lots of options.

And the cost difference isn't great enough to make it worthwhile?

I agree and it is cheaper than the GXL.

However if you read the OP comments, he doesn't want anything, therefore the GX fits the bill.

He also asks what you'd want. As a hypothetical...

He also doesn't mention whether he wants things like side steps, roof rails, reverse camera, etc.

Not to mention, he states base vehicle would be a GXL minus rear aircon and third row seats.

Even though I have a manual 150 and have no desire to change it, I agree with tidythatshed and would also like -

The stereo and climate control display to dim when the dash lights dim to make night driving easier.
Remove the green light that tells me I have the head lights on.

Other than these changes, I love it and have made the changes I needed to, to make what I wanted and its always good to get other opinions on what they would change.

Maybe Santa will make it all better tonight

VX with the offroad and cruise packs, I would have bought a Kakadu if the suspension was the same as the VX.

How much are you saving by not having the third row seats?

Resale would be a bugger I reckon. Before we went prado we looked at discovery. The seven seaters went quick, the five seaters didnt.

                    Just a thought.

I'd pay the same price to be honest (even more if I had to), it's the inconvenience of the seven seats more than anything.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the drama about 3rd row seats in a 150? In a 120, you'd just remove them and you have a 5 seater with a flat cargo area..... and 180 liters fuel capacity (couldn't resist). Can't the third row just be removed in a 150 also?

Theres a load of threads in the 150 section showing what the problem is. They can be removed but it leaves a bit of a mess and you have many pieces of seat/trim/bolts and brackets to store somewhere until you sell. Unlike the 120 where it was a simple job resulting in 2 folded down seats, the 150's are built in, even after removing its had to get a neat finish with drawers and the wheel arch trim is bigger with cup holders built in.

I dont have a problem with mine though i know where the guys are coming from.
