Does anyone know if Toyota offers (free) roadside assistance?
After taking my (2011) Prado out of the Novated Lease (due to change in employer), I came to realise that I am probably not covered for this (can't find anything in the paperwork).
I know it's a Toyota and my previous Prado didn't miss a beat, but silly enough I needed the RACV (whilst still under lease) to replace a tyre, as the wheel cover nut was so tight that it could not be removed with the provided tools.

    Any ideas/suggestions/opinions?
    Best to go with RACV?

    Cheers,

    Fred

I think bodies like RAA, RACV, RACQ are the best to go through.

I've never loved anything more after my previous vehicle, 5 tow trucks in 3 weeks... for 'free'!

I stayed with RACV, due to the level of cover. ie, with RACV top cover they will also recover a caravan and provide assistance with accommodation if required.

Agree with RACV top level cover - only used it once a few years ago but it was worth every cent - covered tow from remote mountain road in Tas to Ferry then Ferry to Geelong and included car rental and accommodation and all we had to do was make one phone call!

I received a 'free' Toyota roadside assistance pack with my new Kakadu but I made the mistake of assuming it was somehow automatically activated at the time of purchase. It took me 5 months to realise this wasn't the case and eventually I found the application form in the pile of papers they give you trying to sell silly things like fabric protection. Once submitted it was organised in a few days. The actual details seem pretty similar to other major provider policies except they specify details such as towing to nearest Toyota dealer instead of 'authorised repair centre'. I enquired specifically about off road recovery and was assured that dirt roads were ok provided a 2WD towing vehicle could access the site...not entirely reassuring but I don't know if other policies are any better.

Of note, my purchase contract has something added called "Accident Assistance" and lists an 1800 number. I have called this number several times to enquire what this means. I have only ever gone through to the voicemail of some bloke who has never called back! Some assistance!

P.s. We have RACV for the other car!

I've owned a Holden, Mazda, Nissan and now Toyotas. Toyota is the first company I have come across that doesn't offer free roadside assistance.

They don't need it!! No seriously our mazda does but only if u service the car at the dealer u brought it from, in other words we will make u pay anyhow. I would rather pay less for service and use racq.
