  • Kakadu PCS and right side mirror camera

Took delivery of My Kakadu and spent a lot of time over the weekend playing with the features. Love the car but would appreciate some feedback on a couple features.

    1. PCS system, I always see an orange PCS display in taco, manual seems to indicate its disabled and also indicates there is an on/off button. I can confirm no such button exists, any ideas what this indicator means and why there is no button for it as manual suggests? Does anybody else see this orange PCS display in taco?

    2. Right mirror window, I can see left Mirror camera output on touch screen as well as front camera and rear when in reverse. For the life of me I can't see anything from right camera, anyone else have this issue?

Must say car is great and extremely pleased, radar cruise control is a great feature!

    Cheers,
    Dejo

When we ordered our Kakadu with Radar cruise we were told we would loose the right hand camera. Standard Off-Road pack has 4 cameras and Radar Cruise has 3. Great car isn't it, we love ours.
    cheers

Should right side camera only work when multi terrain is selected?
Only left, front and rear cameras are viewable depending on parallel parking or reverse parking when parking.
That's what I though. BTW, got my kakadu with off-road package, multi-terrain, no radar cruise control.

I have the exact same issue on my Jan 2012 built Kakadu.

I notice on the screen when viewing the LS and front camera's, there's a "2<>3" button, however, this doesn't seem to do much at all. The manual is a bit vague on it's use. Could be a software glitch? I will raise with the dealer on my first service and let you know what i find out. seems to me the 2<>3 switch "should" activate the RHS camera as well (the "3" bit)

                I have a 2010 Kakadu.
Same issue - but not a car problem - it is designed to only show right side camera when in Multi terrain.
Once you are in Multi terrain which you can then manually select which camera you want to use - including when using the side camera (mirrors) if you want to look forward or backward. Works really well.

I think the right side camera maybe part of the so called cruse control "radar"?

One would think the left could also assist with distance control ... but maybe its just the front camera and the right camera? It does not sound like radar actually.

I wonder how it works ...

EDIT correction: the radar is based from inside the windscreen. Nothing to do with the cameras ...

You need to read the Off-road driving manual, page 109 to 113 shows the modes.

Firstly, when you see the 2<>3 switch - those don't seem to work ... but the 2 or 3 refers to modes, not to cameras.

The good news is that your combined radar cruise and crawl etc vehicle, does use its right camera, when off road.

To do so, you need to select multi-terrain, then enter into that, then select your mode (mud etc etc), and then, when you have done that, scroll down to cam position, and then select a mode. And bingo, you'll get the right camera working in various modes.

Page 101 of your manual (above) describes it.

But - reversing out of your garage, the right cameras won't work ... it only works in multi-terrain mode (maybe its good practice to get used to the controls by using multi-terrain to get out of the car park?!!!

Perhaps I am wrong though ... if so, please point it out to me!!

I image that in 2024, the computer will not allow use to even steer ... so time to enjoy still sort of being in control... !!

I wonder too if the Prado will still have its magnificent chassis in 2024 ... probably the accounts will win and it will be gone ....
