  • Cargo barrier once third row seats are removed

    Hi guys,

I have a 150 GXL and have removed the third row seats in anticipation of building some drawers etc. I am attempting to find a suitable cargo barrier prior to designing/installing the drawers, can I ask if anyone can recommend a barrier that suits the GXL once the third row seats have been removed?

    Thanks, Ben

If the removal of the 3rd row seats will be a permanent thing then a barrier made for the GX might fit. If not when you build your draws then a place for the GXL barrier to sit on might have to be incorporated into your design.
It would have to be fixed there as well to stop movement at the base.

Once you remove the 3rd row seats, a GX barrier will still not fit.
Off Road Systems have a half barrier that fixes to the top grab rails and the ones beside the middle seat.
These are designed to be used with a drawer system.
      From memory they're around $525.00

      Dobbo.

Black widow also have a 1/2 barrier. Not sure where it connects to in the GXL but in the GX it connects to the 3rd row ceiling grab handles at the top and to the front wall of their drawers at the bottom.

It connects as you say and also to the drawers.

Caddy Storage sell a half barrier as well.

What perfect timing for this thread to come up (and me to hijack it...hopefully with some useful info for you Ben).

I've just ordered my Drifta drawers (250mm) and am looking for a half height barrier to fit. I've got a rough price around $400 for a custom barrier from 4WD Systems and I'm close to ordering them but a little cautious about ordering a something like this custom made from interstate.

I guess the safest bet would be to get it made 15-20mm short with longer mounting brackets to fix to the vertical front panel of the drawer carcass...anyhow, yet to be decided.

Anyone used or seen the 4WD Systems barrier and can give any feedback on the quality of their gear?

I have the 3rd row of seats removed and an ORS draw system with their half barrier fitted, which does not connect to the draws in any way.

Next plan for me, is to make a few new brackets and I will be able to make it a duel position barrier, which for us is important, as no one will ever use the second row of seats when we go camping.

Dont have any pictures of the barrier fitted with the draws but should be able to get some tonight if youre interested.

                Hey Dave,

Where does the bottom of the barrier connect? Is it anything like the Toyota barrier that requires holes drilled in the trim?

                Cheers

                  Hey DGW,

That sounds like its exactly what I'm looking for, if you could post up some pics when you get the chance that would be much appreciated,

                  Cheers, Ben

                    OK, hope these help.

Barrier mounting points using where the third rows grab handles used to be.

And barrier looking from the front seat.

Just curious here, but my mate managed to utilise an old Holden Commodore Wgn Cargo barrier which he cut down for his drawer system he made up. I was wondering if anybody else may have come across a Cargo barrier from another Vehicle Type that may be able to be utilised/modified to use in the 150's ?? Just looking for options here for when I eventually get around to making my storage system in the rear of our 150's....

Any advice/ideas on what other barriers to use would be great

I liked Dave's setup and was going to get the ORS barrier but had trouble getting details from them. Ended up with a Black Widow half height barrier which worked out well
